Full tilt Spielberg! The man certainly introduced himself to the world with a bang with this piece of brilliance. It is so cinematically compelling, most people must have thought 'Where on Earth did this guy come from?' when seeing it on its release. The man (like his style or not) is simply a creative genius, his command of the screen all the time with visually compelling scenes is almost out of this world. He makes every movie flow with action, and this masterpiece flows quite nicely, especially once he gets us out on the big water. Yes he can definitely be accused of being corny, even perhaps cartoon like in his film making at times, but boy, does he entertain. I'm shocked to see this on 3 stars. It's one of the best and most underrated horror's of recent years. It's not some silly b chick movie but a return to old school of the 1970's. There is a massive twist at the end of the film which turns the whole plot on it's head. That alone is worth 5 out of 5 stars.

well what can i say...its awful. there is no pace,no(half decent) actors(except JLC for her single scene for Lauries demise)and well no plotline. a failure...and surprisingly better than 3-6 but still atrocious...why they even bothered with this film i will never know...it is even better than the remake of the original which was a surprise. H2O redeemed the franchise with good performances and fun scenes although there were holes in the plot it was a very good sequel...this should be avoided at all costs. and to top it all off a '15' certificate to make this the tamest out of the whole franchise.

Thirteen Ghosts is a remake of a 1960's film of the same title created by the brilliant William Castle. The film follows a man and his children who become trapped in a ghost ridden house that they've inherited from Cyrus (the man's eccentric uncle.) Trapped along with them are a psychic, a lawyer, and a ghost hunter. Thirteen Ghosts is a bit different from your standard horror, and it goes without saying that I doubt that this it's the kind of film that everyone will find scary. But for me at least it worked. As this is probably one of the greatest ghost films I've ever seen. The bathroom scene especially, which has been done really well comes to mind. Not to mention when the lawyer 'splits.' 28 Days Later is such a wonderfully made film - if you can call a film full of death wonderful!? As has been said in previous reviews, it has you on the edge of your seat throughout, has many 'jumpy bits' and is almost so realistic, that it does actually cause you to be very wary when it gets dark, especially if you're near a window with no curtains... The acting is very good, and the film has many small twists that you don't see coming, and with the awesome special effects it is probably one of the best films of all time!

It goes great with popcorn. It keeps cooking from the time the jet plane is saved from crashing on burn out, to the mysterious metal-paged catalog. Right up to the end. And notice that the cat could tell that they were being scanned. This was probably the original "CAT scan." Russell Johnson has this thing for islands. First there is "This Island Earth" then there is "Gilligan's Island" and my favorite island with him on it is in "Attack of the Crab Monsters" (1957) where he gets his tubes ate. Im a huge stephen king fan and couldn't wait for this to come out. Not all the stories are horror but most are creepy and tragic. 'Battle ground' was the best and 'the fith quater' was probably the worst. Some episodes are more miss than hit, but always entertaining and there is something for almost everyone. Each episode is quite different, there is some great acting, great special fx and always enjoyable. All in all, this has some really unmissable episodes and a particularly creepy one named 'road virus heads north'. A neat and entertaining series, perhaps the best £25 i ever spent!

A very good movie,which had my hairs standing on end a few times!I bought this dvd on the strength of the reviews on amazon and elsewhere I was not disapointed.The sinister atmosphere that film has from beginning is quite remarkable as it is sustained throughout.Is this a ghost story or the story of young woman slowly mentally unraveling ? The film is abiguous on this point and leaves the final decision up to the viewer.
