A film which creates tension at times, though does uphold its continuity throughout. Lack of CGI obviously accepted, this plot nevertheless is full of holes. The motivation behind the otherworldly beings wanting to inhabit earth is never established, the consequence of which is a lack of consistent atmosphere. Without wanting to give anything more than the basic plot establishment away to those who have not sen this film, it would suffice to say that the method of transfrmation leaves a great deal too much to the imagination, and does not provide a basic framework upon which to hang any imagined theories about how the transplantation of an alien mind into a human body would take place.

However, acting is generally of a good standard, ... Read More:

A couple Allen and Julie Pyke move to the country after their child is brutally murdered. In an attempt to get Julie to cope with her grief, Allen suggests that she starts to take photographs again(she is a photographer by profession). She is hesitant at first, but then walks to a long abandoned prison, and takes some pictures. What she sees on these pictures after they are developed, both shocks her and causes an obsession to grow in her. Concerned about his wifes sanity, Allen starts to make enquiries about the history of the house they are living in. What he discovers shocks him to the core.
If you like to be scared(and I suggest that you may well do looking up a film called 'Dark Remains'), then look no further, as this film certainly delivers ... Read More:

I only watched this recently on the TV as I'm not prepared to shell out cash for something that I fully expect to be trash, this is,as one other reviewer said, was predictable, family take wrong turn in desert, get lost, break down and get picked off one by one by the natives (cannibals),it's the same plot as all of these films,Texas Chainsaw massacre etc.
It really was just a showcase for someone's sick imagination as to how these people can be bumped off,I think nearly everyone has some implement sticking out of their head at one time or another.
So in all, story is paper thin and hopelessly predictable and it's more sickening than scary,I don't dislike all these films,TCM has it's moments and SAW was clever the first time but their scripts could be written ... Read More:

An alternative title could be: 'Mad Madeline'!

'The Fall Of The House Of Usher' is an odd film. It's comparatively short (just one and a quarter hours) yet can seem considerably longer. A meagre cast with very little happening for most of its duration. However, this is based on a novel by Edgar Allen Poe, (which I have not yet read but intend to) and I should imagine that the book is probably more atmospheric. Not that the movie did not try to capture this, but somehow the house interior for me was just not 'creepy' enough. The guy's distinctive 1950s hairstyle did not help...

This is a movie for some reason I watch time and time again - not sure why though.

Yes, it's better than the original. It's quite suspenseful and Donald Pleasence great as Dr. Loomis. Shocking enough to be banned in Germany when it came out, but it's not really all that gory. A descent slasher.

It began with George A. Romero and a black and white film whose final scene informed the audience exactly what this genre should be all about. If you haven't watched that film please do not comment on this one or go to the bother of giving it a negative review.

You are wrong.

Every single one of these films are allegorical, insightful and thought provoking but because of the visceral aspects are disregarded as populist trash designed for teenagers with a lust for gore and mindless violence.

Diary Of The Dead is no exception.

Watch it, think about it, enjoy it. Then be frightened by today's society. Because that's what it is about.

As well as a lust for brains.
