I endorse everything said by previous reviewers in acknowledging the power, beauty and sheer creepiness of this film classic, hence the 5 stars. Equally, I am appalled at this new DVD version that can offer such poor quality sound and would give it only 1 star if it were possible to rate the sound separately. The earlier release from Warner in 2002, though not brilliant sonically, is still preferable to this travesty. The message is - if you have the previous version, hang on to it. If you haven't, try to get one.

As for those who want to dismiss this movie in favour of the 'new horror' such as SAW or HOSTEL - all I can feel is pity for them. I am a long-standing fan and collector of the genre, going back to the silent classics, ... Read More:

28 Days Later was a great film and was a cute reminder of how basic we could be; Creme De Menthe and candles, Budgens booze counter, say no more. As for the film, great! To film London deserted was a feat in itself. The storyline was conventional (zombies/virus), but the way it was portrayed was exceptional. As for 28 Weeks Later, well, it was definitely a follow-on, but with it's own twist. The ending being the destruction of Europe by those saved at all costs was good. Will we see a third film..? Watch this space.

Ah, Scotland where the free roam, Private Cooper (Kevin Kidd) and his squad of misfits, including the brilliant Spoon set out on a training exercise in the remote highlands but after a SAS trooper is found mauled, the group begin a desperate last stand in a old house against a very hungry pack of werewolves.

The mix of humour and horror make the film a must for horror and comedy fans alike.

Death Note 2:The Last Name(based on the hit anime and manga) starts after the end of the first. Now the game is higher than ever Light and L and working on the same playing field and who ever and the one to lose...will die.

Once again the acting is great Light and L and great in this and Misa was even good (a suprise to say the least)even minor cast were great. The only problem some fans of the manga and anime will have is the ending is new but the makers were told to have only two films they didnt have the time to do the whole story.

Thus we miss these two from the manga: Mello and Near (N and M) but that isnt a big deal.

So any Death Note fan should check out both films they are a treat!

I was first introduced to this film as a child and have recently rediscovered it at age 23. I still love it. Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy are so hilarious as the evil Sanderson sisters and the musical numbers are fab. I agree there should be a soundtrack.

Definately one to watch, kids will love it, I put it on for my younger brother and he loved it. The only thing that creeped him out was the talking cat, think Salem from Sabrina the Teenage Witch. This cat is Sarcastic, dry and ultmately hilarious.

Give it a go people. Bette Midler is ace.

Isolated in the most northern town of Alaska, the towns folk are preparing for the month ahead. Their position on the earth means that every year it is darkness for thirty days. A stranger has just come ashore and makes his way towards the town...
The film is wonderfully set up with good characters on a convenient white canvas of snow. There is one particularly memorable tracking shot in the midst of the action that is very impressive indeed. Once the action begins it does not let up. Eerie, scary and bloody - I would recommend this film to anyone who enjoys horror or simply likes a bit of blood and a few scares. I give it 4/5 because the film maker in my head would have done it slightly differently.

I decided to read the Shining Before watching the film. I Loved the book a i feel i would have enjoyed the film alot more if i hadnt read the book 1st, not only did the film take stuff away, but it added stuff that was never mentioned in the book or touched upon, it is a good film and it was scary but its not how i would have made it

I really like the actor David Morse and he steals the show here. Well Labeouf is pretty good here too, in a very boy-next-door way, but Morse is genuinely frightening. The plot unravels in a pretty shoddy way. I mean what happens at the end? I understand it's a fun film but none of the characters look at all shaken up by what's happened; it's a bit sick actually, as if this is what happens regularly.

much camper than rear window, and downright silly in places, it is worth a watch, if that's your cup of tea and i have to admit it is mine.

for a start this film started out with a little more acton than the hostel films,i.e no 40 minute character building until the killings. oh no, once they get to where they want to go the fun starts, ok it is a bit few and far between, as in gore, blood,etc.. but as the flm is quite long it keep the thrills going until the end. expect lots of blood, toe curling scenes, heads blown off, table saws etc.. yes, if you thought hostel 1 or 2 was good, you aint seen nothing yet, id say its 80% hostel,20%manhunt and 10% the descent, f,y,i manhunt is a game. it just reminds me of it in some parts. go for it if you love people getting killed!!! yay!!

On the face of it, I shouldn't have enjoyed these three. I'm not a fan of zombie movies, generally finding them deathly boring, and I don't play video games, so I came to these movies completely uninitiated in the RE universe.

But I have to say that I found all three RE movies extremely enjoyable. Are they high art? Of course not. But for what they are, they produce the goods. I think the addition of a fairly solid plotline and generally rounded out characters lifts them above the average zombie movie.

My only complaint is that in RE3 we are never told what happens to most of the surviving characters at the end of RE2. With the exception of Alice's love interest, who reprises his role, the others are simply forgotten about and, apparently, no longer around. It ... Read More:
