Zelda from terrorhawks does her best to try and scare the viewer in this terrible film. Same trick as 'Sickth Sense' and 'Dead Mans Shoes', whereby someone you were watching that you thought was real turns out to be a ghost all along. Cheap tricks like this don't make for an enjoyable film, especially as there is no such thing as ghosts. Why do people keep making ghost films when there is absolutely positively no proof for their existence except the anecdotal sort from half wits, drunks and the elderly? The house is nice where it was filmed though, and good on Nicole for shunting Cruisey baby.

We all know the scenes. Little boy, floating, scratching at his friend's bedroom window. Woman rising from the autopsy table. We all know Reggie Nalder's amazin Barlow make-up (and it IS amazing, even now). What most people don't know is that between these scenes is where the magic really lies. Tobe Hooper has crafted such an atmospheric, tense, dark film, and all without reverting to excessive gore and coarse language. The whole film appears to be set at night, despite half of it taking place during the day. James Mason is amazing, Bonnie Bedelia is amazing and David Soul is.. amazing, for once. Even the support players (George Dzundza and.. Weasel) steal my two favourite scenes ("What's He Done?" and "Hold it steady, Larry"). Sure, it's 3 hours ... Read More:

There was a type of British comedy film which they were careful never to send over to the States. I suspect it was because in their hearts they knew that some time in the future Masterpiece Theater was going to do more for America's image of Britain than Churchill, the Tudors and Noel Coward would do rolled into one. And these comedies would make Masterpiece Theater unbelievable. These were comedies that were just as brash and broad as Coward's diction was clipped and upper class. They were comedies for the working class, and in Britain that could be a bad thing as well as a good thing.

Sometimes the condescension is overwhelming. The stars were household names in England. Most of them came from the music halls and often were equally ... Read More:

There's never been a better time to get re-aquainted with Michael's music. This is great! 10 videos that are timeless! The sound and picture quality (except the picture on the way you make me feel) is incredible. The sound is 5.1 dolby sorround, it's crystal clear and you can hear a pin drop. Whether you watch it on a sorround sound system or a normal TV it's superb quality.

THE VIDEOS

1 Billie Jean
2 The way you make me feel Uncut rare version. The picture quality is grainy - like an old VHS. Not sure why this is as the rest of the videos are great quality.
3 Black or white - uncut version including panther scene. This includes the racist writing on cars and buildings that Michael smashes up. In the TV version ... Read More:

This is an awful adaptation. It bastardizes the essence of Shelley's novel. While the novel nurtures a moral dilemma at its heart, this destroys it. (This cannot be demonstrated better than when the monster rips out Elizabeth's heart, serving as an apt metaphor for the film ripping out the heart of the text). The sympathy for the monster which Shelley really draws on is completely undercut in the film by the monster's portrayal as a cold blooded murderer wanting an unjustified amount of revenge...it ignores the reasons behind his sadness, ignoring the carefully crafted manipulation which Shelley plays with the reader's own preconceived ideas.
Among the monstrosities are the changing of the monster's final speech when Victor had died, which should have been ... Read More:

This box set is an excellent buy for anyone who has seen and enjoyed the saw films, or like me, had seen the first three, but not the fourth and didn't own any of them.

They are all very well written and produced, each sharing its own twisting plot involving the charactors; which often refers to the previous installments in the sequels. This makes it essential really that you need to see them from the beginning to get the full gist of what's going on and truly get the most out of the storyline.

There's not much to say about the plot without giving too much away. The main character has a terminal illness and decides to spend the rest of his days testing the will of other humans; needless to say this involves a series of disturbing obstacles that his subjects ... Read More:

I watched the whole of the original X Files when they were first on TV and loved the series. I have just purchased (and watched) the X Files movie and have to admit that it has re-kindled my love for this series. The film is as good, if not better than I expected and I suspect I will now start buying the whole TV series. So, if like me, you haven't watched the X Files for a few years, I can recommend this film. I loved it.

This film seems to be one that people love or hate? Generally I dislike remakes as pointless exercises that are pale imitations of the (often better) originals e.g. The Grudge, Assault On Precinct 13, Gone In 60 Seconds. However if they add something to the original they can be worthwhile.
The original Halloween is an absolute classic horror film and the grandfather of the slasher genre. What Rob Zombie does with his version is to give us an insight into Michael Myers, that is absent in the original. The therapeutic relationship between Dr Loomis and Michael is emphasised and the obsession with masks that facilitates his withdrawal from reality. This relationship doesn't cloud Lumis' perception of Myers; he knows that he is evil incarnate, but he has an understanding of him.
