I really liked this film. Sequels can often be a real let down, but Poltergeist 2 explains why Carol Anne was chosen by the poltergeist, with a bit more insight into the family.

I found myself asking a few questions throughout the film - where was the older sister, and how did they get a real person so skeletal looking to play Kane. I looked it up and discovered that she was sadly strangled by her boyfriend in real life after the 1st film, quite shocking as I assumed it was just due to a money dispute or something similar that caused her to be absent. As for Kane, he was so skeletal looking because he was dying from stomach cancer and passed away in the middle of filming, hence the appearance of the beast towards the end of the ... Read More:

Given the almost overwhelming amount of total rubbish being pumped out in the film world, I found Black Sheep to be a refreshing comedy "zombie" thriller. Whilst touching on a more serious underlying message. The New Zealand setting and presumably writing had me drawing simularitirs with Peter Jacksons' Bad taste in its low-fi style and humour. With some nicely graphic maimings and deaths along the way. If you like Shaun of the Dead type films, this one is definately worth a look. Cheered up my week day evening no end. In my opinion First Class production and casting given the budget. A happy addition to my ever expanding film collection.

This was a good film. I liked the special effects. I loved the back story. It is just a shame it seems to have been butchered in the editing.

I always enjoyed Stephen Kings Novels especially The Shining but the film that is celebrated as the best horror movie is not as good as it could have been.Had Copolla spent more attention to some of the creepier elements of the book ie the topiary animals rather than making Shelley Duvall do a certain scene 20 or so times he could have included so many more images in this film.Jack Nicholsons character goes way over the top and the classic bathroom scene is about the only terrifying scene. After injuring his foot the image of him being a sort of hobgoblin weilding a axe chasing his son didn't cut it for me and the ending was just awful.THe book will always remain a classic but the film could have been so much better.

Sorry to go against the grain but I saw this a while ago and it just felt like an overly long Gwar music video,I say overly long,it probably feels like a music video next to Mr Jackson's other bum-numbers,King Kong,LOTR etc..I personally think the Evil Dead films are so much better.

The Final Destination trilogy are fantastic films that make you think that today may be your last day before death pays you a visit. The films are gorey, clever, have good acting from all involved and even though you have a rough idea of who will live, the film throws you off guard with several suprises. 3 great films that are fantastic value for money.

This 1970 film from Czechoslovakia is a surrealistic movie that deals with a teenage girl bizarre dreams after reaching puberty. The film is very imaginative, has very strong visuals, is submerged in lovely central European folklore and is shot in luscious color. It certainly represents a break with the realist (if critical) tradition of other czech films made during those years (one film it invites comparison in its rejection of realism is Chytilova's Daisies). A somewhat minor quibble is that the constant mockery of the Catholic church at a time when it was persecuted by the Communist regime of Husak seems a bit opportunistic (one wonders if, without this, such a film would have been approved at all).

Awesome film!

Great package with a lot of supplement material (even more as at Criterions) with two audio commentaries. One of the great sensei Tony Rayns and one of famous director Guillermo del Toro...

I don't normally watch subtitled films but I have to say this was very good. It was very creepy in parts and the twist at the end was unexpected and pretty horrifying!! There was some great jumpy moments in it and overall enjoyed watching it!

Hollywood is running out of ideas. Sequels, remakes and prequels, anything to cash in on a good original and take your money again and again.
HANNIBAL RISING is absolute garbage. There's no Anthony Hopkins to redeem this crap either. Although an interesting idea to show his origin, it is totally unnecessary and a complete waist of time and money.
