A string Dr. (Caligari played by Werner Krauss) brings a somnambulist (sleeping man played by Conrad Veidt) to a local fair. The somnambulist knows all things and can predict the future; he prophesizes correctly Allan's (friend of Francis and rival for Jane's hand) murder and pilfers Jane from her bed chamber. A boy (Bart Bradley) on the beach finds a canister form a wayward spaceship that crashed in the sea. Hence the title "20 Million Miles to Earth" It yields a cute little creature that just loves to eat sulfur. He just wants to be friends and is intrigued with his environment. As with all innocent space creatures just as he is beginning to trust us, he is enslaved abused and thoroughly disenchanted. This is just an enjoyable creature movie with some people interaction and a question of what you do with a misplaced Ymir.

As you have guessed this movie is packed with Ray Harryhausen's stop motion. See more of Ray's work in "Clash of the Titans" notice how that there titan from the sea looks like the Ymir.

See William Hopper tackle something ... Read More:

95.Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed [1969] starring: Peter Cushing, Veronica Carlson, Freddie Jones, Simon Ward, Thorley Walters

DVD : Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed [1969]
Peter Cushing and Terence Fisher's penultimate Frankenstein movie is one of the very best late-Hammer efforts. Tightly plotted, exciting, gruesome, and scary, the film also boats some of the best acting in any Hammer film, from Cushing, Simon Ward, and especially the great Freddie Jones.

Though conceived as a climax to the series, the movie actually works better as a direct sequel to the original 1950s efforts and as a prequel of sorts to 1967's Frankenstein Created Woman. Here, Victor isn't the penniless drifter of the 1967 film, but an affluent, dandified sociopath in the mould of Fisher's first two movies, if a notably older and more vicious version. Despite his advancing years, Cushing's Baron here looks younger and fitter than in Frankenstein Created ... Read More:

DVD : Vampyr [1931] (REGION 1) (NTSC)
The rat-toothed Nosferatu and the charming Transylvanian Count are the best known examples of early vampire movies, mostly because there weren't very many others at the time.

But more often than not, "Vampyr" gets passed over when you talk about early vampire movies -- and that's a shame. Carl Th. Dreyer's masterpiece (loosely based on the works of J. Sheridan Le Fanu) is a straightforward little story wrapped in a hazy cocoon of dreamlike imagery and haunting direction. From the very beginning, this movie clings to you like a spiderweb.

Occult student Allan Gray is staying at a hotel in the French countryside. But after being woken by a strange old man's cryptic warning, he finds that the inn is swarming with eerie supernatural happenings, including ... Read More:

DVD : Village of the Damned/Children of the Damned (REGION 1) (NTSC)
Despite having a name that sounds like a German-Japanese dinosaur movie and a drastically reduced budget after MGM got nervous over the possible reaction from the Catholic Legion of Decency, Wolf Rilla managed to deliver a genuine low-budget classic that makes light of its limitations in Village of the Damned. Surprisingly faithful to the source (The Midwich Cuckoos) despite the many changes, it's another variation on novelist's John Wyndham's big theme, the battle for supremacy between two species - in this case the human race and the intellectually superior children spawned after a mysterious alien intervention that sees a small village rendered unconscious in a memorably staged sequence that combines the mundane with the inexplicable. Rather than exploiting the premise and ... Read More:

Director Lance Comfort was a regular on British supporting features of the 1950s and 60s. This film made for Mancunian is a cut above many of its time and features 2 great actors in William Sylvester and Barbara Shelley. Add to this the bonus of singer Ronnie Carroll performing 2 numbers and a strong supporting cast including Mark Eden, Elizabeth Shepherd and Alex Davion.
The story is of a love double cross and I'm not saying how it ends...you'll have to buy the film to find out!

DVD : Hollywood Legends of Horror Collection (REGION 1) (NTSC)
5 films all deserve the abused term 'classic'.If you know anything about 1930's horror you won't need any recommendation to buy this collection. If you don't, the movies in the set are
Doctor X with Lionel Atwill & Fay Wray directed my Michael Curtiz with Return of Doctor X ( the only dud ).Mad Love with Peter Lorre & Colin Clive.Devil Doll with Lionel Barrymore and Maureen O'Sullivan directed by Tod Browning.Mark of the Vampire with Lugosi, Atwill, Barrymore directed by Browning and The Mask of Fu Manchu with Karloff and Myrna Loy.
Only the Return of Dr X prevents a 5 star rating but still very worthwhile

DVD : Destroy All Monsters! [1968] (NTSC)
These movies must be starting to affect me. I am actually beginning to feel affection for these creatures. It is now 1999, and here they all are living peacefully on Monsterland, confined to its boundaries by the United Nations Scientific Committee, when suddenly an alien force takes control and they break free and head for several of the world's capitals. Godzilla attacks New York City, Rodan Moscow, Mothra Beijing, Baragon Paris and Manda London. The aliens are a female race known as Kilaaks who threaten to dstroy the human race unless it surrenders to them.
The U.N.S.C. manages to take back control of the monsters, so the aliens unleash the three-headed space monster King Ghidorah. What follows is an all out battle between him and virtually every monster you can name: ... Read More:
