This was the infamous and controversial year that had Schumacher disqualified in Belgium and banned from the races in Italy and Portugal. There were solid allegations that the Benetton had illegal traction and launch control and was incredibly found not guilty. The season ends as controversially as it had went on, with Schumacher colliding with Hill in Australia to win the championship. And last, but not least: the deaths of Senna and Ratzenberger. I can see why one may be curious to see Senna and Ratzenberger's fatal accidents. You would be better off watching them online. The tributes to them in this video were fitting. As a spectacle, 1993 was one sided. Williams had continued their dominance from the previous year with the most advanced car in F1. Prost came back from his sabbatical and won the championship fairly comfortably. Damon Hill made his debut for Williams and had rotten luck, losing victories in Britain and Germany. He finally won in Hungary and took the next two races in Belgium and Italy. Senna makes it interesting and Andretti gives us some comic relief. Ross' commentary loses points for this video.

Having watched this 2-hour programme through twice, I have to admit this was well worth buying as a rally fan. You can watch some footage of virtually every championship-winning car that ever existed in the WRC, as several precious minutes are devoted to each car which includes a very clear Tony Mason commentary and endless footage of varied cars relevant. Good points of this video would be it's 'archive' nature: the fact that it provides an information database for all the major cars and the bestmoving imagery for each one. It is also very thorough as there are a wide range of cars involved as well as excellent bonus material including "that" 1987 pair on Pikes Peak, the Audi Quattro S1 and the modified Peugeot 205 T16 (dubbed 405), the latter driven ... Do you love cars? Do you have petrol in your veins? Is Clarkson one of your heroes? Are you bored of the Health & Safety obsessed nanny state with its speed cameras and congestion charges? If you have answered yes, (although you can get away with saying no to the Clarkson one), then you will love this DVD. The basic film is a 20 minute or so blast through the streets, highly illegal and an absolute joy to behold. Watch it again with a cool commentry, and then revel in the lifestyle of our Swedish brethren... and that's it. I own all 6 of these DVDs, and they are pure escapism. They get better and better. The 1986 Formula 1 season was one of the best ever. This is a well presented video, with Clive James' wit and love of the sport evident throughout. There is good coverage of the qualifying and race sessions, with enough of the politics in between to keep everyone interested, and without becoming bogged down with too much detail. If you want to see a season where there was actually racing and overtaking, this is the one to go for. The season goes down to the last race (in Australia), with three drivers each having a chance at the coveted Drivers Championship.
