As you would expect - if you are a connoisseur of rally films - this BHP produced compilation is great. Good film work, great editing and a very informative and never dull commentary from Steve Rider helps bring back memories of World of Sport British Open Rally Championship reports as well as act as a nice, repeatable, slice of nostalgia for when rallying was fun and photogenic.

I'll admit I'm only upto the 3rd race at the first Thruxton meeting, but I feel I've seen enough to write a representative reviews. The content of the DVD is good, in as far as there's plenty of coverage. However, this footage is very much a cut-and-paste job by Duke, as there's no new material and it doesn't always flow very nicely. The lap counter making it obvious when big cuts are taken is a particular annoyance. It's wishful thinking, but for next year's review, it really needs to be a "review", not a collection of outtakes from the TV coverage throughout the year. It would be really nice to see the races re-edited, particularly Race 3 which is just a cut version of the live broadcast. ... Read More:

These season reviews are great if, like me, you like seeing off-track footage as much as the action from the races because that is what they consist of mostly. Limited to one or two cameras at each race, there is an inevitable concentration on practice sessions and interviews. Do not expect lots of overtaking, accidents or on-track action. That said, there is no other way to get footage of these years and, assuming anyone who is thinking of buying something like this is already somewhat knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the era, these films are of great interest.
