Fans of Jim Clark or of motor racing in the 1960s won't be disappointed by this DVD, which mixes extensive footage of Clark, with interviews with friends and rival drivers of the time. In comparison to modern documentary footage, these interviews can seem a bit wooden - they seem to have been pooled from a variety of sources, compiled over several years - but there is nevertheless a genuineness about them which simply adds to the overall authenticity.

Where the DVD scores heavily is the extensive footage of Clark racing in all kinds of machinery - Formula 1, 2, sports cars, GT's and at the Indy 500- all complete with the original audio commentaries. Not only is the skill and bravery that his contemporaries so often speak of clearly ... Read More:

DVD : Secret Life Of Formula 1
In some ways the title is a misnomer. Rather it should have been a view of Formula 1 through the prism of the Williams team although to be fair it does include the history of Formula 1 from its pre WW2 days when Mercedes Benz convincingly swept the field to the ascension of the Italians post WW2. The era of the British dominance of the sport only occurred in the 1960's & is only now in decline.

This DVD is not about the races but rather the technology, the management - Frank Williams & Bernie Eccolstone - & the sponsorship which makes it possible. For all those interested in Formula 1 this is an excellent behind the scenes expose of the technology - tyres, aerodynamics, engines. This was the reason for the British dominance ... Read More:

DVD : Murray Walker's F1 Greats
Bless him! He's watched and attended all those F1 races ...and in many eyes is now a certified 'legend'! However, despite all the benefit of having been trackside many, many times, he still gets the final judgement as to who the "greatest driver" was, very wrong imho!

I'll try not to give it away for folks who are considering buying this 'pension plan Mk VIII DVD' ...but Murrold cites ruthlessness, crashes & various comings together to demote a certain mythical pilot ...and yet cheerfully ignores his own similar reasoning when it comes to a particular German driver ...who I dare say gladdens Mr Walker's heart a wee bit more c/o the aforementioned driver's various Walker book forewords and attendance at 'end of MW-career' retirement ... DVD : Grand Prix - The Golden Years [2000]
This DVD isn't really good at all. It's nothing more than a small insight into every year of the 1970's with good pictures but not a lot of information about that era of Formula One racing. It doesn't tell about a lot of the good cars that raced in F1 during that time and also it doesn't show a lot of the racing action. I wouldn't recommend buying this DVD at all, There's plenty of other great F1 DVD's around.
