If there's one thing that's made McFly last as long as they have done for the past 5 years, it's the fact that they pull out pretty much all the stops when it comes to playing live and touring, which is illustrated perfectly on this DVD which accompanied the top 5 album of the same name.

Filmed last September at Wolverhampton Civic Hall, whilst their "Greatest Hits" show may lack some of the pyromaniac pizazz that their arena tours usually have - i.e. big video screens and a little podium for Harry's drums to levitate about on - this is an enjoyable, intimate and engaging set that shows off not only their performing prowess but also the funny, often heartwarming crowd interaction - particularly on performances of tracks like "Obviously", ... Having been to the concert I inevitably bought this. I received the CD a few days earlier and was already familiar with the sound quality (see review); the sound on this is no better and I found it easier to spot where the band's flu caused timing issues (I really winced during Utopia). This scores over the CD as it shows the dancers for Sonic Attack and is very well filmed.
On the downside I would have preferred some audience shots, less time spent watching Tim Blake on the theremin and lose the unnecessary blurring effects.
I can't really recommend this to casual fans, many of the other DVDs out now are better than this sadly.

DVD : Frank Zappa - In Barcelona
This is an extremley interesting DVD with great songs never seen before on DVD such as "Baritone woman" and also the classic "sharleena".
Perhaps the only problem with the DVD is that the picture is slightly on the fuzzy side but the good sound makes up for it.
Amazon are only charging around £8-9 for this item and it's well worth a look.(Buy It)

A lot of nonsense has been written by reviewers about this superb DVD, probably because they weren't born when Lennon died, let alone understand why Sgt Pepper is so important: maybe they just don't get it!

The Beatles were and are the most important popular music band of the 20th Century; end of story.

RARE AND UNSEEN is a worthy contribution to their legacy. Who says so? Tony Barrow- the man who guided John, Paul, George and Ringo through the sixties and who wrote the sleeve notes- and he should know. Certainly there are elements in here that you won't see on Anthology- and for any self-respecting Beatles' fan this really has to be in the collection. After all, without it you won't have the earliest footage known, and you won't ... Read More:

What astounds me about these dance/percussion numbers is their intricacy, which must have required relentless rehearsing, and yet there is almost an improvisational, immediate quality about them; some of them are performed on a stage, some on location in New York City, and they seamlessly segue from one to another. I especially like the transition from the alley ball game into the kitchen with the marvelous cigar-chomping chef.

This innovative show was created in the early 90s in the U.K. by Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas (who met in 1981 as members of a street band called "Pookiesnackenburger") and they share directorial credits for this HBO film; the show in its stage version has received numerous awards with its many productions around the ... Without the rare and unseen footage this wouldn't get five stars from me. It IS a special concert and a true celebration of Elton John's unique musical gifts and of course his 60th Birthday. Sadly as Elton John has got older his voice has become a less expressive musical instrument. I say this as huge fan of the artist. Its not a criticism, sadly age catches up with all of us and Elton is as human as the rest of us.
If you decide to watch some of the rare and unseen concert footage before you watch the main concert, this is when the limitations in Eltons voice becomes painfully obvious. That said there are some performances in the birthday concert that are better than the archive ones. Honky Cat being one example.

Credit then to Elton John that ... Read More:

This is quite simply one of the finest live performances I have ever seen, if not the finest!

If you have never seen or heard SRV please buy this as it is quite
exceptional. It's so good I don't really know where to start. Stevie was a true guitar genius.

He never stops yet never repeats himself. It's sublime - the power, the speed, the control, the sensitivity and the voice. He had it all and music is the poorer for his passing.

Texas Flood may be the greatest single performance ever captured on film.
I should think the few hundred people in attendance that night have never stopped telling people they were there!!

Initially I was put off buying this DVD due to reviews that mention poor sound, well I took the plunge bought the DVD and am glad I did no problems at all with the sound and picture quality is excellent.

The majority of the first section is dedicated to Architecture & Morality which I must admit is my favourite album, with the rest comprising OMD's hits. Yes the group has aged a little however so have the audience although this DVD is definitely worth the purchase.
