Absolute magic! I saw this as a child and it inspired me into career of dance. As a child, I adored to watch it and try to imitate the characters. Frederick Ashton's choreoegraphy brings the animals to life with imagination and fun. In the early 70's The Royal Ballet was in it's glory days with dancers like beautiful Leslie Collier, Wayne Sleep and Michael Coleman: who's Pas De Chat-ing Jeremy Fisher I'll never forget, dancers filled with style, creativeness and that tremendous RB technique. This is a joy, something to have on the shelf for any ballet fan or budding ballerina. Enjoy!

If you're an aspiring guitarist, these guys will show you just how it's done. A stunning lineup that covers brilliant old stagers like Hubert Sumlin, Buddy Guy, BB King (he's 81 and still rockin') right through to new talents like Derek Trucks, John Mayer, Doyle Bramhall. And holding it all together with an exceptional set, Eric himself. Great photography, good sound quality and around four and a half hours of crowd pleasing music. My high spots: Jeff Beck (I still don't know what his hands are doing despite the closeups) with a simply phenomenal young bassist. The consistently excellent Robert Cray. Much is made of the factual inaccuracies of this story. In fact if you have the good fortune to read the excellent book JOLIE -THE STORY OF AL JOLSEN by Michael Freedland, the truth is not as far away as you may think. First of all the man had to have an ego do what he was doing, cope with the fame and up to a point survive. He had certain character traits that others had, a temper, meanness followed by generosity and so on that were minimised and ignored for the most part by the film. You can only tell so much of a story and maintain the interest of the watcher. Personalities devolve in to composite characters and so on. Like for most mature vocalists, the music has to be several steps lower as the range changes with age. As with Sinatra and others this was a bonus and Jolsen's voice ... Read More:

The original was blistering, especially on the big screen, and with dolby stereo. Jimmy's solo on No Quarter is by far his best live solo - ever. His guitar just talks to you and says some gorgeous things. The new DVD has new renditions of songs from different nights, but, heh, Led Zeppelin.....part of the soundtrack to my life!

I saw Pink Floyd at the Albert Hall in the late 1960's and they were spectacular by the standards of the day with their sound effects and strange on stage antics and costumes. However this performance from 1994, fortunately captured on film, is arguably the greatest popular live music and stunning visual performance ever held in the UK. The sound and visual quality of these DVD's is of the highest order. David Gilmour et al are a truly gifted bunch of pensioners. From another pensioner
