I remember trying to get a ticket to the actual concert for George, and not being able to. I knew this would be a fitting and memorable event. The lineup included a lot of his friends and former colleagues, for example Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton, Jeff Lynne, Billy Preston, and Tom Petty. I assume the majority of people buying and watching this DVD are Beatles/George Harrison fans. I certainly fall into that category.

I was moved beyond words and description by this concert. There was an immeasurable outpouring of love, although not in a cringey, gushing way, just in a way that showed the reverence he was held in by those who knew him. Although there were international superstars, nobody tried to steal the show. ... Read More:

Overall I think this is a great set and an absolute must for fans of AC/DC. My only gripe and the reason that I've given if four stars and not five is that the concert had Simon Wright on drums. Sorry, but love AC/DC as I do and I have been a fan for 31 years now, I never could quite accept Simon Wright as Phil Rudd's replacement, to me his sound was never quite right, something was missing. Mr Wright certainly was never Mr Right in my opinion. I would rather they had included a concert with Phil on drums, from the For Those About to Rock tour would've been great. Chris Slade however was a great drummer and far more suitable than Simon Wright. Like Phil he had a good strong solid sound. Simon Wright always sounded to me like he was building a shed. ... Nice collection but there's a huge space where Don Felder should be. The session guy gets the notes (most of them anyway) but not the feel, and they made him stand way over to the left just so there was no mistaking the fact that he wasn't really part of the 'family' . When Felder plays on HFO the pure enjoyment and mastery comes bursting out of the screen and overall HFO it is the best production but I bought them both anyway.

I enjoy Daniel Auteil's work, so I was drawn to this film. It's understated, rather dry and full of analytical speeches about feelings - Beart is beautiful and temperamental, just as you expect your great French actresses to be. All the characters are a bit weird, then again musical people do seem a bit eccentric to non-musical people. I watched the film in three sittings, and felt I had been uplifted in a noble, ponderous, French way.

If you want a detailed, telling story of Factory Records, get Shadowplayers. This film is 'a truth based on lies'. It is almost pure myth feeding. The bits of facts thrown in, are literally thrown in, they're not built into the script, they're simply blurted out at a convinient moment. The omition of New Order is simply unforgivable. You cannot tell the story of Factory Records without putting some detail into New Order, without whom Factory would have sunk without a trace very quickly. Other important bands of the era don't even get a mention, but these are understandable, the Smiths and the Stone Roses for example were not on Factory, and this is the story of Factory.

The film is not a boiling pot of laughter, there are moments that will split your sides, ... Read More:

The only compilation among a gazillion to span Orbison's Sun, Monument, MGM, and Virgin successes is a welcome add to the Essential series that now, post-merger, features RCA & Arista artists as well as Sony's. Roy Orbison is one of my absolute favorites. He simply may be the best rock 'n' roll singer ever.

Amazon really should update the track listing to reflect the few re-recorded versions. While the originals should be here, the remakes are a legitimate part of Mr. Orbison's career. Roy's popularity was at a deeply undeserved lull circa 1987, when David Lynch used some Roy songs in his classic/eerie film "Blue Velvet." In the wake of renewed public interest, Roy released an LP of remakes called "In Dreams" (Virgin, 1987). It was very well done, an exception ... Read More:

I have been an ABBA fan since my teens (70s)! The sound quality of this recording is exceptional and I really appreciated the second disc which has all the less popular songs (which happens to be my favourites) on it. I would really recommend this collection of 2 CDs and DVD to any ABBA fan! It is the best recording (sound quality) i have ever heard of all the ABBA LP's or CD's. GET IT NOW!!!!!
PS - the ABBA documentary was a little dissapointing - would have liked to see more of the other members of the band being interviewed. Still - do not even hesitate to buy this collection!!!!

Having watched the whole documentary, I feel there are a couple of points that are worthing noting for potential buyers - neither of which should put you off, though.

First, the disc is in 4:3 format - fine if you have a square telly, but on a widescreen telly with the top and bottom chopped a bit (to avoid black bars left and right) the captions for interviewees are chopped a bit.
Second, some of the videos for the songs are of poor quality. I know this is old film from the 70s but surely there are better prints available?

OK, so whinges out of the way, on to the good stuff. This is an excellent documentary. The first hour or so sets the scene, with the historical setting and also the way German musicians (and youth) handled the post-war years. ... Read More:
