All Tarkovsky enthusiasts will want to watch, if not to own, this double-DVD consisting of three documentaries about the Russian master. The first film is Moscow Elegy, by another great Russian director, Alexander Sokurov, to whom Tarkovsky was a mentor. This is a very personal tribute, consisting of footage and photographs of Tarkovsky's life and clips from his films. Unfortunately, for no reason that I can see, Sokurov appears to have taped much of it from TV, because the visual quality is poor and much that should be in colour, including ironically some clips from Tempo di Viaggio in this same DVD set, is in black-and-white. I admire most of Sokurov's films that I have seen, but cannot understand why Moscow Elegy is put together ... Read More:

Trailers forthcoming attraction adverts from the period... watched most through writing saying "wonderful" etc. Tiny excerpts of scenes through advertising print. I felt that I would get better value burning my money for warmth

As the King of all music festivals takes a break in 2006, Temple's documentary is the closest thing you can get to the Glastonbury experience this year. It charts the history of the event, but is formed in a way that recreates the feeling of three days of fun rather than simply following chronology. Two hours and twenty minutes might seem a long time for a documentary, but as you're kept smiling most of the way through, it's not in the least overbearing. We are treated to a number of musical highlights, but just as entertaining is meeting some of the weird and wonderful people that make the festival so unique. This DVD is a definite MUST for any nirvana fan, or someone wanting to get into their music. It has some brilliant shows/gigs of some of their best songs. Trust me, you won't be bored! It really makes you feel part of the scene, like you are at the concerts. A great DVD to watch with some mates, or to rave by yourself to.... ;) It contains (a few entertaining might a say) interviews and some footage that the band had shot themselves on a home movie camera. Yes, I would say that Cobain is probably drunk (or worse) in a few of the performances, but it makes it more entertaining!

This Dvd is quite good yet a little boring at times. The pianists are fantastic and it's nice to hear my favourite instrument being played by the best. If you're not used to Classical music however this can be a hard DVD to watch and none of it is memorable either, but still worth a watch.

I simply enjoy this set of short films ushering a viewer through the latest sixty years of rapid changes New York and US society experienced. To me, some films are more interesting (Five Feet High and Rising, Daybreak Express, Meshes of the Afternoon), some less-but this DVD is a classic epochal work for generations oncoming.
