I was one of those lucky people to see Sviatoslav Richter at the Festival Hall in the 60's. I can remember the abrupt end of the concert and him walking off the stage without a glance at the audience who were ecstatic. This DVD shows him just as I remember him, warts and all. His playing is so 'out of this world' but I have really enjoyed the interview and the glimpse into his personal life. Well worth buying.

The only negative thing about this film, is that is 2 hours (maby more) to short. We can never get enough information about John, but this film gives the most important. I'm not a very sensitive man, but i almost started to cry at the end of this film....

Of all the Dvds I have watched about Joe this is by far the best capturing the man and his music at there best. Buy it youwon't regret it.

This DVD holds performances on TV by Patsy Cline between 1955 and 1962. These incredible images are richly commented by Robert K. Oermann who is a country biographer who has written some 7 books so far. Before each performance that you are going to see he explains the whereabouts of each song profoundly. The fantastic thing about this DVD is that all the songs are complete interpretations with no time limits, no talking nor other interferences. Another excellent and invaluable early shorts compilation from the BFI. Highlights on the disc include the macabre An Over-Incubated Baby and other great trick films such as The Magic Sword and The Haunted Curiosity Shop. I'd recommend this DVD to anyone intested in early cinema. However, collectors will be disappointed by the very badly designed sleeve - a real shame given that this label has previously produced some of the best designed discs around.

Of all the video products out on Cream, this is by far the best. The music from this all-time classic album is 5+ stars. Once you view this, you get a whole new perspective on the album and its individual songs (much like other "Classic Album" series DVD's). I now enjoy my CD of this landmark album that much more after listening to the story behind songs such as "We're Going Wrong", "World of Pain" and "SWLABR" ("she was like a bearded rainbow"). It was primarily the songs that were not as famous that amazed me on this program. Most of the primary players that were involved in the making of this album are fortunately still alive and on hand to discuss their memories (including the talented artist that created the famous album cover). I thoroughly enjoyed this DVD. It told the story of Billy Fury's rise to fame. What a talent,he not only sang but wrote his own songs and what a voice... The interviews with his family told how he was unwell during his career, but he never let it stop him, what a showman. If you enjoy his music then this DVD is a must for you.

Until about a year ago I hadn't watched this film since about 1983. It seemed an artifact then. Now, nearly 25 years later and 30 years on since much of it was shot by Don Letts on Super 8, it really is from another era. However the film holds up surprisingly well and it's worth seeking out a copy if you're interested in not only the music but also the whole impact on life for many people of the 1977 punk explosion. Don "The Screaming Target" Letts and Peter Clifton, the film's Australian producer, shot the bulk of the footage in 1977. Subsequently Letts was a founder member of the trail blazing but little heard Basement 5 in 1978 and the way more commercially successful Big Audio Dynamite with Mick Jones, formerly of the Clash, in 1984.
