My only problem is that you cant always understand what they're saying while they're singing so i had to figure the plot out by other means. loved it though, would give it 4 1/2 if i could

This is an entertaining movie with behind the scenes features and would have been better off without adding that there is a 3D part to it when there isnt. I bought this DVD hoping to get a good movie and a real 3D experience, but the 3D is really poor and is definatley not worth wearing those plastic "3D" glasses for about an hour and a half. Reccomended if you are a huge fan of HM and MC though!

What is so exquisite about Sleeping Beauty is that it looks like a medieval tapestry coming to life. If you look closely at the details in the backgrounds you can see little twists in the leaves and curves in the tree bark which overall gives an ornate and opulent look still refreshing to this day. It was the most expensive film in it's day, it took over four years to make and Walt Disney stated to his artists and animators that they should take their time over it, make it beautiful and so it came as a shock when it didn't do all that well in the cinemas. It wasn't really able to communicate to an american youth who were smoking things they shouldn't and it seemed this highly romantic film was too idealistic in it's portrayal of young love, ... 14.Oliver! (Special Edition) [1968] starring: Mark Lester, Oliver Reed, Harry Secombe, Ron Moody

DVD : Oliver! (Special Edition) [1968]
Simply put, Oliver! is one of the greatest musicals of all time. It is filled with memorable songs - "Food Glorious Food", "Oliver!", "Consider Yourself" and "Oom-Pah-Pah" to name just a few - and equally memorable characters.

The film is a musical adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic novel and much like the story of Oliver Twist itself, it is a perfect family film. There are some frightening moments - the villain Bill Sykes played by Oliver Reed is scary enough on his own - but overall, the film will appeal to children of all ages as well as adults.

The story - which almost everyone is surely familiar with by now - revolves around a little orphan boy named Oliver and his life growing up in London. At first he lives ... Read More:

This film took me back to being a child - I remember having the album and going to see it at the pictures. I bought it for my daughter who is 8 thinking she might like it. She loves it to bits and would watch it every night if she could. I too enjoyed watching it again. The songs are catchy and the dance routines are fab. Definately deserves its place in the top 100.I would say to those miserable people who have given it a bad review - if you hated it that much you should have stopped watching! Get a life!

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang [1968] 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' is my second favourite after 'The Wizard Of Oz'. 'Chitty' stars Dick Van Dyke, Sally Ann Howes, Lionel Jeffries, James Robertson Justice and Robert Helpmann. Though this release onto DVD is the Full Screen version of this film i personally prefere it due to the fact this is a wonderful transfere to Disc, with it's lovely deep colours and so beautifully restored it looks like a modern film. Dick Van Dyke is superb as the children's father who rescues a vintage racing car from a junk yard and gets the car working again. He decides the car should be called 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' and he tells his children a story of how the car is magic and able to float and fly. Everything is so wonderful ... Read More:

The Sound Of Music (2 Disc 40th Anniversary Collector's Edition) [1965]
With nearly three hours of snow-capped Swiss mountains, a sprawling family of six children, extravagant parties, picnics and family concerts in Salzburg and buckets of encouragement from Rogers and Hammerstein, it's no wonder that this film is also called THE SOUND OF MONEY. It won FIVE ACADEMY AWARDS and has taken hundreds of millions dollars. It's the surprisingly simple story of Maria(JULIE ANDREWS), a nun who's Governess to the rigidly disciplined children of an Austrian Military Captain(CHRISTOPHER PLUMMER). She so enchants him that he breaks off his engagement to a socialite baroness. In the meantime, Maria, teaches the children to sing and the whole family is soon giving a ... Read More:

The title says it all, I think and the reviewer who considers it classist and misogynist has obviously failed to see the point of the movie which actually makes fun of these attitudes. Remember the scene at Mrs. Higgin's house or Alfred P. Doolite's remarks on 'middle-class morality' - hardly narrow-minded.

Dirty Dancing is one of those movies that you either love or hate. Watching it again over 20 years after its first release, it was funny this time around to register a social and cultural subtext and to recognise what a macho thug Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze) really was: after he has beaten up the preppy waiter Robbie Gould, Baby doesn't seem worried at all that he might one day turn his fist on her; in fact she cuddles him tenderly! Baby (Jennifer Grey) was more sexually assertive than I had remembered: it is she and not Johnny who initiates the movement of their relationship onto the next level by laying her romantic feelings bare. Their growing intimacy might have been socially unusual - an unworldly daughter with political ideals from a wealthy, privileged family ... Read More:
