In 'Gilda' and 'Affair in Trinidad', Rita Hayworth performs dance routines which are not the kind of routines found in movie musicals. The routines in 'Gilda' and 'Trinidad' give the impression that Hayworth is a musical and rhythmical person who is responding naturally to the music but is not a dancer. These routines work very well as Rita is a great mover but if anyone is in any doubt about her talent as a dancer then watch 'You Were Never Lovelier' - she is a sheer delight to watch. She is a fabulous dancer and a wonderful partner for Fred Astaire. 'The Shorty George', a tap routine, is my favourite next to Astaire's wonderful solo number. I've heard that this set will include the documentary Gene Kelly: Anatomy of a Dancer which has only been available on DVD in America. Excellent! I'm happy that this set is coming out!

Let me start off by saying that Giselle is my favorite ballet; I love the story, the music and the dance. This performance was recorded in 2006 at the Royal Opera House, Covent Gardens, London and stars Alina Cojocaru and Johan Kobberg in the principal roles. This is probably the best danced and finest interpretation of this magnificent ballet I've ever seen. I initially saw this at a movie theater with about 200+ people; you could have heard a pin drop during many of the pas de deux between Cojocaru and Kobberg, they were that stirring to watch. Being a white westerner bollywood films are a new experience for me - Ive only seen a handful up to now and i can easily say this is my favourite up to now, i absolutely ADORED this movie! Myself and a friend saw this at the cinema and we laughed our way through the movie - you cannot help but love Shah Rukh Khan after seeing this! Of course the storyline is incredibly dramatic but it just makes it more fantastic! The acting is amazing and the music just outstanding. Being a huge fan of the phantom of the opera stage show i loved the homage to that - there were homages to old bollywood movies, a lot of which obviously i didn't get, but for true bollywood fans i think they would doubly love this film. I bought the Vinyl when it first came out, then the CD,and now the DVD. I had forgotten how brilliant the show was, What a stunning hour it was, I encourage anyone who likes to see a star perform in concert to order this NOW, you will not be disappointed, Liza at this time in her life was as artistic as her mother,and deserves the ultimate accolade of a living legend. FABULOUS!!!!

This musical is a true joy. I would place it within the 30 best musicals ever made. Some pseudo casting directors, music experts, and nit-picking purists, may disagree. I saw it recently at home with an audience which included all age groups: from a 7 year old, through a 60 year old cousin. They all agreed that they would like to see it again, some other time. To my judgment, the casting is ideal: Kathryn, fits well into the innocent damsel, who is swept off her feet, falling in love with the dashing gambler (Howard Keel). Joe E. Brown is perfect (as he makes believe his domineering wife, that he is hen-pecked) as he does what he wants, saying" yes dear. I first saw this on television when I was a little girl, and to this day I still love this fantastic musical. This musical is very clever when all the fairytale characters bump into each other (some flirt with each other) This is by far the best musical Steven Sondheim (apart from Sweeney Todd)I have thoroughly enjoyed. All the songs are fab especially Children Will Listen. Bernadette Peters has a beautiful voice and to me, she steals every scene she is in. If you love going to see shows, you will not be disappointed by this excellent D.V.D. I give this production 10/10 it's that good.
