As I have never seen the stage show, I cannot compare the two. I have heard the music many times and always wanted to see it, now that I am able to I can say that it is one of the best musicals I have ever seen. The story is dramatic and sends shivers up your spine every 2 minutes. It takes you back in time to the point where I came out thinking that I should be wearing a corset and have my best puffy dress on. I love the attention to detail, not one thing looks out of place. The theatre looks amazing and the cinimatography is very good. I also thought that the actors fitted the roles perfectly, and their voices surprised me. Gerard Butler's voice was amazing, even though he had not sung before, he was the best phantom I've heard (though I am ... Read More:

I watched this at an early age and I still love it now and sing along to the songs as much as I ever did! With a geeky Rick Moranis and a scary Steve Martin, this film doesn't fail to please.
Although it looks like a kids film younger children might be a bit worried by the man-eating plant . . .however my kids love it ( little gore-hunters that they are!) Its bright colours and cheesy songs are the perfect antidote to a boring sunday afternoon!!!

Gurinder Chadha produces a fantastic film with a new twist to the classical conundrum: how does an independent minded female connect with the opposite sex? Jane Austen could never in her wildest dreams imagine the outstanding Bollywood like dance and music numbers which make this film such a delightful viewing experience. Ashanti does a magical song and dance called "Take Me to Love." The Bakshi sisters sing and express appropriate sentiment in "No Life without Wife" which is a delightful song mocking the awkward attempts by Mr. Kholi, an accountant of Indian background who lives near Hollywood, who returned to Amritsar, India to find himself a wife. Despite his obvious material successes in the USA, which he keeps pointing out to the Bakshi family, he can not connect ... Read More:

I've never seen Evita on stage, but from watching this film it becomes very obvious that that is where this story belongs, and although certain musicals have translated very well into films ('the Phantom of the Opera' and 'Hairspray' being two that spring immediatley to mind), this is one of those that I feel should have been left on stage. Saying that however, watching this film has made me very keen to see the musical in it's original format one day, and it is just a shame that it is no longer being shown in the West End.

Whenever Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice get togther for a musical, you know you're going to be in for a treat, and no matter what other reservations I have about this film, there is no doubting that musically, it is a masterpiece. There are many, ... Read More:

I bought this film on a whim because it was cheap in a shop, though looking forward to watching as i had heard it was a great film. But when i watched it i was quite disapointed. Not a huge amount happens, and i would have liked to have seen more singing and dancing. Also the storyline isn't great, they had too many main characters and therefore there wasnt enough time to form an attatchment to the characters or to develop they're story further. Altough it was a plesant watch, i wouldn't be in a hurry to watch it again.

I saw this years ago and forgot how brilliant it is in a feel good kind of way. As a former tom boy I can't help but relate to 'Clam' and was pleasently surprised that my daughter and her friend watched it all the way through and she asked to watch it again the next day. Only downside is that I can't stop singing the tunes in my head and sometimes outload much to my family's embarressment.

Rent is a brilliant musical set in New York, following a story of friendship, love and music. The cast, most of whom starred in the original broadway production, are fabulous, and make the movie extremely worth while watching. The songs are fantastic, ranging from the lively 'La Vie Boheme' to the saddening 'Without You'. The film made me Laugh and Cry, and overall it is Fantastic. The whole film becomes EVEN BETTER when Maureen (played by Idina Menzel, who's got a brilliant album, I Stand) appears. She brings light to the film with a slight comedy, but overall just her brilliant acting skills.
This film is a MUST SEE. Once I saw it, i fell in love with it, its THAT GOOD! :D
