Was totally stunned by the quality of the picture running at 1080p! Only the second bluey I've thought better than upscaled DVD. Good to see the disk space used for the main feature and a few little high quality extras - not the usual rubbish that you honestly never bother watching.

"In the days after it first opened in early 1964, Stanley Kubrick's "Dr. Strangelove" took on the enchanted aura of a film that had gotten away with something. Johnson was in the White House, the Republicans were grooming Goldwater, both sides took the Cold War with grim solemnity, and the world was learning to be comfortable with the term "nuclear deterrent," which meant that if you blow me up, I'm gonna blow you up, and then we'll all be dead. "Better dead than Red," some said. Others said the opposite. The choice was not appealing. The Bomb overshadowed global politics. It was a kind of ultimate hole card in a game where the stakes were life on earth." Roger Ebert

In the age where there are several top 3d animation companies, the idea is to be different, and try to maintain your own style, and not to copy others. I feel sony animations has done just that. They have a certain swagger about this films look, and the way the characters are presented to the audience.

The story is based around the main theme of an "open season" for hunting, and invloves animals who are affected by this. Without giving the story away, this film has great story depth, well developed characters, great iconic moments, some breaktaking scenes (such as the river scene....sweet), some crazy moments, strokes of geniusness, and it creates a great atmosphere.

This film stands firmly on its own two feet, and for being the ... Read More:

Finally out on DVD in the UK, this season of Little House on the Prairie is a pleasure to have in my DVD collection! Yes, there are no special features and the picture quality isn't perfect, but I for one believe that the sound quality on this season is far better than in season 1 and 2! All in all I have no regrets in purchasing this item and look forward to rewatching these classic episodes many times.

This is a collecton of three Dr Who stories, all linked by the presence of the Silurians and/or Sea Devils. The Silurians is an early Jon Pertwee tale which sees the Doctor (working for UNIT) investigating power failures at an underground research centre. Before long he has come across a race of intelligent reptile-people who once inhabited the Earth and have been revived from their age-old suspended animation. This is an example of Dr Who at its best - thought-provoking, intelligent, well-written, and with some serious issues to raise. In The Sea Devils, also with Jon Pertwee, the Doctor visits his old adversary the Master who is currently beng held in a high-security jail. However, it seems another prehistoric race, this one amphibious, have emerged from hibernation. ... Read More:

With its plot involving the Doctor returning to Gallifrey to claim the position of presidency, this could have been an intriguing look into Time Lord society - a follow-up to The Deadly Assassin, showing Gallifrey now going downhill. Unfortunately it doesn't work out like that. The beginning of the story shows promise, the Doctor coming across as quite sinister, and the scenes set outside the Time Lord city show a side of Gallifrey never before seen. But overall it just descends into tackyness. The alien invaders (Vardans) start off as transparent pieces of tin-foil before they transform into cliched 'troopers' who look as though they've been lifted from a '50s sci-fi action serial. Then there are the Cockney-accented, blundering Sontarans in two episodes of feeble slapstick which ... Read More:

Having only just watched this film for the first time last night I was intrigued to see what others had written about it because for me it was a real mixed bag. To my shame I didn't really know the story of Merlin and King Arthur etc so was interested to watch from a factual point of view and my toddler did get up in the middle of it all and wandered about making lots of noise so it was difficult to follow everything (must watch again) but the story was really really good, very gripping and some of the acting was excellent particulary from Jason Done (who again to my shame I have never heard of) who played Mordred, King Arthur's illegitimate child and he brought a real edge and genuine comedy to the film. I personally wasn't keen on Miranda Richardson (who I normally really like) which was ... Read More:

Mannequin is a fresh feel good romantic comedy which brings together Andrew Mc Carthy (Jonathan) with his boyish
looks and a young Kim Cattrall (sex and the City) in a well matched romantic tale of a mannequin(Cattrall) that comes to life in a department store where Jonathan window dresses to compete with a neighbouring store whose staff would do anything to sabotage Jonathan's efforts...among these is a young James Spader acting as the infamous baddie and a spy....Needless to say there are much mischief that both parties get into in this delightful tale enhanced by a colourful character and supporting actor who almost steals the show by the name of Hollywood...look out for him (I think) and a fabulous musical track of the time....simplistic but very effective not to many will dislike mannequinn ...it ...
