Yet with a disposition and voice so sweet, the contrast between some of the lyrics and the way Curtis delivered it was incredibly effective. The majority of the material here is from '72 and '73, so his Superfly period is well covered with some excellent live performances. This documentary came two years too late - the Rock & Roll Revival many of these stars created was starting to get a little tired. Shows in the New York area starting around 1968 could have made a spectacular film...but who knew that these festivals would continue successfully for years? Following TV Specials with Little Richard and Elvis Presley in '68, Richard Nader ran his his first big event at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan, New York, and reports are that 25,000 people attended. The show I saw there in October of 1970 makes this movie a minor curiosity. Chuck Berry looks happy at Wembley but to say his band looks under-rehearsed is to say the expected - someone forgot to bring along lead sheets. Little Richard ... Read More:
