Children of the Stones is a classic example of edgy and thought-provoking drama aimed at young people but intelligent enough to appeal to everyone. Its compelling plot and eerie atmosphere places COTS firmly up there with the likes of the marvellous Owl Service and Noah's Castle. Furthermore, set against the hugely evocative backdrop of the Avebury stone circle (and a few shots around West Kennet long barrow and Silbury hill) and with such accomplished actors as Gareth Thomas and the masterful Iain Cuthbertson, COTS is an uniquely satisfying experience.

I loved it when I first watched it as a young teenager and loved it today!

All seven episodes are presented in excellent picture quality and clear, but obviously mono, ... Read More:

I've watched this film at least 10 times. It's simply hilarious. It's not actually taking the mickey out of Star Trek, rather a tribute to the actors who play in Star Trek. One of the funniest and definitely the most underrated comedy films out there. You need to watch this film a few times to catch all the jokes so it's a perfect DVD purchase. There are so many classic moments such as the captain getting his shirt ripped Captain Kirk style and the Klingon types in the toilet at the Trekkie conference.

ok so then its another vision of post apocalyptic future and now mankind has designed bioroids to help govern themselves
into this comes the heroin deunan to try and save the day
the good- the visuals are mind blowing the plot is quite inventive and the mixture of philosophic musings to action thankfully falls more into the action camp
the bad - thankfully very little it slows down a little in the middle to crowbar some stuff about mans existence into the characters and as such it loses some momentum but that minor slip aside it flows brilliantly and looks truly stunning

V the mini series and it's sequel V the final battle are great SF. Tough the special effects are not up to today's standard, this is more than compensated for by the interesting storyline (a parable about the naziregime) and protagonists who are real people with real faults and doubts. Some become collaborators, some become heroes against their will, but there are no black and white characters all good or all bad, except for Diana (a Dr.Mengele-like character only with real power, not a follower like Mengele was).
Together these two form an epic story of real interest.
Unfortunately the formula was milked into a television series (V The complete series) wich has deteriorated to mediocre or less. The stories have become childish, the characters ... Read More:

Klaatu: This comes from our own planet, but if you threaten to extend your violence, this Earth of yours will be reduced to a burned-out cinder. Your choice is simple: join us and live in peace, or pursue your present course and face obliteration. We shall be waiting for your answer. The decision rests with you."IMDB

'The Day the Earth Stood Still' was one of the first movies in the 1950's to explore space travel and to provide a warning that "the use of violence as a solution to all problems" is an issue we need to face. All these years later we are still on this path and these words have not been taken seriously. This movie is known as the best Science Fiction movie ever written. 56 years later it still stands up. Patricia Neal had no idea this would ... Read More:

After Star Trek: The Next Generation's mixed debut season, things seemed bleak for this second season since the writers strike of the late 1980's was in full force.

While some stories may be bottom of the barrel, such as "The Outrageous Okona", "The Royale" and trek's first and only clip show "Shades of Grey", there was also a big turnaround with more ambitious stories such as "The Measure of a Man", which questions Data's existance as a sentient lifeform, and "Q Who?", which introduces us to one of trek's greatest enemies - the Borg.

Other changes to consider include the replacement of Dr Crusher with Dr Pulaski, who seems to be a female incarnation of Dr McCoy, and the introduction of Guinan, played by Whoopi Goldberg after she requested a role on the ... Read More:

We've all heard the naff reviews over the years, my advice? Ignore them and check this out!
Negatives first-yes, the courtroom scenes can drag (but we soon lose those throughout the series) and some of the acting is dross (that's what you get employing theatre luvvies)
Positives-Colin Baker (top form, should have stayed on),the storylines (varying)and a superb ending.
By the end of this, you really wish the 6th Doctor would have remainied on and even Bonnie Langford seems less irritating from the series first 80s airing.
Loads of extras, good all-round boxset.
