I was bowled over by this series. I'd never seen it on TV until I bought it in Thailand (yes an offical copy too). The Thais love the series too right from my 60 year old Uncle to my 2 year old Daughter. This show could run for years.....

I'd just like to re-affirm that it does contain all the bonus features, i got my copy this morning.
Great quality videos, pretty cool menu screens and the features are great too.
I'd advise people to make sure they know things for sure before they go bitching on amazon reviews.

As you can tell from the other people's reviews this movie is brilliant!!
But what is not said (at least I don't think so! I didd'nt read all 100+ reviews!) is the picture quality! i'm using a Toshiba 47" 1080i LCD HDTV with a PlayStation3 with HDMI connection.

For a DVD it's got AMAZING detail! I'm surprised they managed to fit this 3 hour film with this quality onto a DVD!! I have a collection of around 500 DVDs & this must be in the top 5 of best picture quality in my selection!

Buy it! you won't regret it! (or wait for the Blu-ray)

If you just want to know if this film is worth buying/watching or not, without enduring copious notes in the process, the answer is a resounding "YES!!!" I watched this film when it was first released and the reviewers (FOOLS!) were decidedly cool, but my husband and I (no, not THAT husband and I !!) both thought it was brilliant and knew it would become a classic.

I'll start of by saying that I'm a fantasy/sci-fi and action fan, I'm not entirely sure why I picked this film but it was listed on my recommendations so I thought I'd have a look and read the reviews. After just watching it I'll say I'm glad I did.
The acting is great, especially considering most of the cast are children. It has a simple yet effective story line and every bodies roles was thought out and executed wonderfully.

I won't say any more about it but I will recommend you watch it at least once.

This is how films should be.

This is a great sci-fi film. Think Indiana Jones in Space or What Han Solo's life would've been like before taking Luke and Obi-Wan on board. I agree that watching Firefly first is a must as you then get to know and care about all of the characters which only adds to the experience. It's very witty, clever, got great characters, and a good story. Give it a go. You'll love it!!

I missed the entire Battlestar Glactica oeuvre when it came out (indeed the original series as well) but read so many reviews about the allegorical sophistication of BG, I thought I'd better check it out. The obvious place to start is the 2004 mini-series, assembled on DVD as a three-hour feature (and selling for less than four quid on Amazon as I write). Aficionados claim the series doesn't get into its stride until later, but this was for me an impressive opener. The human species is attacked by the Cylons, a robot-race that comes in two distinctive designs; toaster-on-legs and hot, hot humanoid. Thanks to some sexy treachery involving the latter, the human defences are annihilated leaving a rag-bag of refugee vessels, clustered round the eponymous `Battlestar' a ... Read More:

It is a great shame that `The 4400' failed to really hit its stride until its fourth and final series. It has always been enjoyable but over the years it often lacked direction, and sudden cast changes also hampered its story telling. But the final season somehow pulls everything together and produces some really strong, exciting and involving stories. In one way, it's a great shame this is the final season. But in another, the fact the series was ending probably gave the writers the direction they needed to produce episodes that were so much stronger than the norm. If nothing else, it is great that the show goes out with a bang and not a whimper.

120.Stephen King's The Stand [1994] starring: Gary Sinise, Molly Ringwald, Jamey Sheridan, Laura San Giacomo, Ruby Dee

The Stand is a strange 'film' to review. It is, after all, a 6-hour mini-series split in the middle by a large time gap. Whilst this allows for deeper characterisation and plot development, it also means a smaller budget, B-list actors and cheesy acting. My God, is there cheesy acting. It is still my belief that Molly Ringwald had her eyes on all of the Razzie 'awards'.
The 'film' gets under way in spectacular fashion, with one of the greatest intro sequences / music cues ever, with Blue Oyster Cult's 'Don't Fear (The Reaper)' playing against the backdrop of an underground facility full of corpses. However, after the intro has finished, things take a brief downturn. ALL the supporting actors set new standards in wooden acting (check out THAT sneeze). In fact, Gary Sinise ... Read More:
