On this occasion I found myself liking the movie more than the book. What stood out for me as a child was the wolf figure who stated at the end of the film this startling notion that people who forgot their dreams and lost their hopes were easy to control and who ever has the control has the power ... I wondered how that could come about. Now I see that behind the film was possibly a critique on our modern standard of living and the world of Fantasia, a world of the spirit, imagination and dreams does not want to allow it's self to be usurped by mans casual disregard for those qualities. This is a collecton of three Dr Who stories, all linked by the presence of the Silurians and/or Sea Devils. The Silurians is an early Jon Pertwee tale which sees the Doctor (working for UNIT) investigating power failures at an underground research centre. Before long he has come across a race of intelligent reptile-people who once inhabited the Earth and have been revived from their age-old suspended animation. This is an example of Dr Who at its best - thought-provoking, intelligent, well-written, and with some serious issues to raise. In The Sea Devils, also with Jon Pertwee, the Doctor visits his old adversary the Master who is currently beng held in a high-security jail. With its plot involving the Doctor returning to Gallifrey to claim the position of presidency, this could have been an intriguing look into Time Lord society - a follow-up to The Deadly Assassin, showing Gallifrey now going downhill. Unfortunately it doesn't work out like that. The beginning of the story shows promise, the Doctor coming across as quite sinister, and the scenes set outside the Time Lord city show a side of Gallifrey never before seen. But overall it just descends into tackyness. The alien invaders (Vardans) start off as transparent pieces of tin-foil before they transform into cliched 'troopers' who look as though they've been lifted from a '50s sci-fi action serial. I had heard a lot about this so was really pleased when this was released. A different parody to Blue Harvest, more like out-takes and behind the scenes hidden camera type of show. Some excellent sketches including Admiral Akbar cereal. Main issue I had was the length..... I has assumed that this was an extended episode like Blue Harvest, but in fact it was only around 20 minutes with the rest of the DVD taken up with unrelated episodes and extras, so for that reason only 4 stars for me.

Mannequin is a fresh feel good romantic comedy which brings together Andrew Mc Carthy (Jonathan) with his boyish looks and a young Kim Cattrall (sex and the City) in a well matched romantic tale of a mannequin(Cattrall) that comes to life in a department store where Jonathan window dresses to compete with a neighbouring store whose staff would do anything to sabotage Jonathan's efforts...among these is a young James Spader acting as the infamous baddie and a spy....Needless to say there are much mischief that both parties get into in this delightful tale enhanced by a colourful character and supporting actor who almost steals the show by the name of Hollywood...look out for him (I think) and a fabulous musical track of the time....simplistic but very effective not ... One of the better Disney movies released at the price which i got it for (£7) it was a MUST BUY i think its a great adaptation of the original story of hercules with great music and hilarious scenes worth considering!
