Genesis is of course the story of how the Daleks were created. It shouldn't disappoint because although there are some silly ideas in it e.g., at war for 1,000 years the Thals have only just thought of launching a big missile at the Kaleds, it has been made with such energy and panache that you can't help but be entertained.
Naturally there is a bit of padding at 6 episodes long, but you will rarely find it dragging.
Uncle Tom is in commanding form, being ready to switch off Davros' life support (and Tom plays it like he means it) 1 minute, & debating philosophically the next. He tries to divert Davros from his destructive course but his voice tells us he doesn't think it's going to work. there is some lovely underplayed emotion ... Read More:

It seems like overkill. A five disc box set focused on a single film. Six different versions of the original film, plus an exhaustive array of extras - documentaries, commentaries, out-takes, interviews, concept art, screen tests. Surely only obsessives and the professionally interested could possibly want all this?

But this isn't like other dvd sets. No dull, half-baked `documentaries' that tell you nothing more than star A thinks director B is a great director, Director B thinks star A is a top chap, and everyone thinks the guy who deputy managed Computer Effects Team C did a super job. No commentaries by extras that appear on screen for all of ten seconds. What you get here is a magnificently put-together Blade Runner archive, an exhaustive ... Read More:

I was happily surprised by this film. It had a distant Lord of the Rings feel to it but was still uniquely exciting with its own individual storyline. I had wanted to see this film for so long and I am so glad I have now, I was really moved by this and actually had a tear in my eye in some parts. A good story for kids and adults alike with a really sweet dragon!

Brilliant series all round, the best Star Trek series of them all.

For anyone interested in replacing seasons 1-4 (of the old larger case sets) which had a problem with the design of the cases causing centre hole becoming damaged, I want to assure you, absolutely, that these slimcase sets are absolutely identical in disc structure and menu design. The only difference is the image on the disks which is no real problem.

For anyone wanting to buy DS( as a complete series - simply get them in this format. The price is amazing when compared to the large cased first releases, I wish I had known they were going to make these as I could have saved a fortune.

Spanning over 3 time periods, the Fountain follows the life of Tom (Hugh Jackman) a Spanish Conquistador, a Doctor trying to cure Cancer, and a lone spaceman guarding the Tree of Life.
As the Inquisator is bringing Spain to its knees, Tomas is sent by the queen to find the Tree of Life, hidden somewhere in South America, with only a few good soldiers and a wise priest, he must brave the Mayan Civilisation to reach his goal.
Whilst trying to cure cancer, Tommy's wife Izzy is slowly dying of a Brain Tumor. In her last few days, she gives Tommy a book she has been writing, and the book is called 'The Fountain'.
And in the future, Tom has the sole purpose of guarding the dying Tree of Life. He needs to rekindle its life by sending it into a new star that is being ... Read More:

It's definitely one of my favorites of all time because it's got stuff that most movies don't have: Everything. MGM and company unintentionally created a work of popular art that could only be fully appreciated in its original, pristine print, 70mm, super widescreen glory. It is no longer possible to make a film like Ben-Hur. Oh, George Lucas tries with all his computerized graphics, but this is a REAL spectacle, not some virtual one. 8,000 extras, tens of thousands of costumes, a $15 million budget (in the 1950's!), massive sets depict the power of Rome on the grandest possible scale. It took six years to complete production. Yet, its focus remains sharply on the detail, the private human experience of it all. The story doesn't get lost in the enormous vision of the work.
