Klaatu: This comes from our own planet, but if you threaten to extend your violence, this Earth of yours will be reduced to a burned-out cinder. Your choice is simple: join us and live in peace, or pursue your present course and face obliteration. We shall be waiting for your answer. The decision rests with you."IMDB

'The Day the Earth Stood Still' was one of the first movies in the 1950's to explore space travel and to provide a warning that "the use of violence as a solution to all problems" is an issue we need to face. All these years later we are still on this path and these words have not been taken seriously. This movie is known as the best Science Fiction movie ever written. 56 years later it still stands up. After Star Trek: The Next Generation's mixed debut season, things seemed bleak for this second season since the writers strike of the late 1980's was in full force.

While some stories may be bottom of the barrel, such as "The Outrageous Okona", "The Royale" and trek's first and only clip show "Shades of Grey", there was also a big turnaround with more ambitious stories such as "The Measure of a Man", which questions Data's existance as a sentient lifeform, and "Q Who?", which introduces us to one of trek's greatest enemies - the Borg.

Other changes to consider include the replacement of Dr Crusher with Dr Pulaski, who seems to be a female incarnation of Dr McCoy, and the introduction of Guinan, played by Whoopi Goldberg after ... Read More:

This season is just excellent, true it's not to everyone's like such as i like Enterprise more, however no one can deny the Galaxy class Enterprise-D crew from their Award winning TV Show.

Season 1 kicks off with 3 different encounters, 1. The farpoint incident, 2. the Q contact, 3. the crew. A new commander of the famous Enterprise legacy, Jean-Luc Picard begins the journey by rendevous with the rest of the crew on Farpoint station nearby including Commander William Riker, Picard's new executive officer. We've all heard the naff reviews over the years, my advice? Ignore them and check this out!
Negatives first-yes, the courtroom scenes can drag (but we soon lose those throughout the series) and some of the acting is dross (that's what you get employing theatre luvvies)
Positives-Colin Baker (top form, should have stayed on),the storylines (varying)and a superb ending.
By the end of this, you really wish the 6th Doctor would have remainied on and even Bonnie Langford seems less irritating from the series first 80s airing.
Loads of extras, good all-round boxset.

What a film!. Everyone should watch & understand what we on earth might end up like.

This Film offers good acting with limited effects, offering none stop chilling action story from start to end.

The story allows you to wounder what Soylent Green is about, & why are the rich always better off.

I read most of the reviews before renting from Amazon offering good inside to this film.

Should you watch too, then yes. I would like to see this film played out each year on T.V for all to see.

Rent it, be completely taken away to our Earth World! & the problems we might find in the future, if we dont stop & think first.

The film gives a good view if we had limited food, water & the will to ... Read More:

It's a pity but this film doe's not live up to expectations. It is nothing but a montage of scenes tacked together without rhyme or reason, mixed with stupid camera tricks. Some of the directors of today seem to use this approach when they lack talent or fresh ideas. All in all, one of the top three worst movies of all time.I gave it one star only because the synopsis had potential(until they actually made the film).

These movies are decent enough, but altogether infuriating for long term fans of the X-men. The director didn't seem to have any understanding of the characters and certainly not the fans. This is a lowbrow interpretation of what has for a long time been one of the most interesting and well-thought out comic book series.

Whoever was in charge of the casting should never be allowed to work in movies again; the feral-like short guy Wolverine was changed into a good looking actor who towered over the rest of the cast. Singer completely missed the importance of the physical attributes of the wolverine character- he is meant to be a grunt, a short guy who you underestimate. The makers of these movies simply decided to get a distinctly average actor to play the part mainly because of his appearance ... Read More:
