If there is one genre the Beeb does well it's the costume drama and perhaps this is why this eccentric gem is the peak of classic Who. It is set in the foggy streets of Victorian London where the deerstalker-wearing Fourth Doctor and Leela are searching for the abductor of young women; okay, so far so cliched. What is lurking in the sewers? But what connects the dark plot to Li H'Sen Chang, a Fu Manchu-like leader of a Tong group and a sinister illusionist? How can Chang get Mr Sin, his ventriloquist's dummy, to appear so alive? Is the Doctor the only time traveller walking the 19th century's most important city?

This is a simply superb story written by Robert Holmes the series' greatest writer and script-edtor plus its the last ... Read More:

I recently bought Dead Space on Xbox 360 (great game BTW) and decided to get this to give me some background on the story. That's exactly what it did! The story acts as a prequel to the game and explains how things came to be, right up to the point were you arrive at the ship in the game. I'm not really an anime fan so at first I wasn't too impressed with the way it looked, but it did grow on me as time went on. As a Blu Ray disc I'm giving it 4*, some of it looked amazing, other parts pretty ordinary.

If you own or are planning to buy Dead Space the game then I recommend it, similarly if your an anime fan I think you'll enjoy it. If your not buying the game or not into anime then I wouldn't bother.

I watched the whole of the original X Files when they were first on TV and loved the series. I have just purchased (and watched) the X Files movie and have to admit that it has re-kindled my love for this series. The film is as good, if not better than I expected and I suspect I will now start buying the whole TV series. So, if like me, you haven't watched the X Files for a few years, I can recommend this film. I loved it.

DVD : Star Wars Trilogy (Episodes IV-VI) [1977]
Nothing polarises people like Star Wars. For many of us, it was a fundamental part of growing up. We watched the films, we fell in love with the universe of Star Wars, we bought the toys. Star Wars is, in many ways, part of our childhood. And being so universally loved makes it difficult to take a step back and review it objectively. Star Wars is either something you love, or don't care about, and there's little middle ground.

So how does one review something that means so much to you dispassionately? With difficulty. Difficult to see, dispassionately this is.

So what are these films? They're not the same way you remember them.

This is classic film-making : the type of film-making that changed the shape of films and filmgoing. Despite being ... Read More:

I love this film, and I'll jump off the fence here,by saying I thought it was just better than Terminator 2.Don't get me wrong.I loved the second film.It was a great action film, and I loved the main characters in the story.Arnie as the obsolete and defunct, but still deadly Terminator.Protecting Nick Stahl and the lovely Claire Danes from the sexy, but lethal killing machine of Kristina Lokken. It was great fun,and it remains to be seen,if a fourth Terminator movie is coming. If it is,they'd have to match the high standards set here.Well done to all involved.
