This film was based on a novel by Steven Pressfield but the real inspiration was from the Hindu Epic The Mahabaharata where there is an interesting conversation that leads to the holiest of Hindu Scriptures known as the Bhagavad Gita. Will Smith as Bagger Vance (pronounced in an Indian way as Bhagawan; another name for Krishna) is brilliant and is ably supported by Matt Damon as R. Junuh (alternatively pronounced as Arjuna). The story shows Smith as a caddy and also spiritual guide to Damon...as in the Bhagavad Gita. A nice, tender film at the hand of writer/director Robert Redford. That the fight at the end of movie, where it is Youngblood versus Racki was completely legal? Yeah, the sword-fighting with the hockey sticks and everything. I watched this and laughed thinking that you could not do that, but I looked it up and under Rule 6.11, if both players agree or intend to use the sticks as weapons that there is no further penalty other than 5 minutes for fighting. Now I wish I was back in High School playing hockey I would have done that in the final game of the season.

There's very little to say about this match that hasn't already been said. Quite simply, that explosive start leading to Edwards's try is rugby at its very best. A better try will never be scored, however long the game is played (though the French came very close at Twickers in 1991). Brilliant and breathtaking stuff, with plenty more to follow throughout the game from an amazing Barbarian team. Sit back, pour a cold one, and enjoy.

I fell in love with this film during the first 10 minutes of seeing it. It's hilarious yet serious at times, Parker and Stone play off each other brilliantly and this film shows their fantastic comedic brains. I can't fault this movie, it will make you laugh from start to end!

Fantastic opportunity to relive some great races. Obviously Red Rums victories stand out but to see again Foinavons amazing win in 1967 is wonderful. And the races are shown in their entirety. My only complaint is that they haven't issued a follow up disc of further great nationals maybe this time digging up newsreel footage and going back before the television era. If they do I'll certainly cough up for it. Now if only BBC would do something similar with the rest of their racing archives - how about great Gold Cups, Champion Hurdles etc in their entirety also for starters.

Excellent DVD. Great review of his career including up close and personal interviews and moments at his home in Lanark. Tragedy that you are gone and you are being sadly missed. R.I.P a true Scottish great!
