...although I loaned the film to a colleague at work who could not see the point of the film. I kinda thought that was partly the essence of it.

I've since read the book too and have to say that I prefer the film although the novel is very well written but there are a few differences between the two.

Well acted, well shot and it is the stuff of dreams. If you can't see the point you won't see the game...

If I remember correctly this is a late 90s production that was once sold on Amazon.com in region 1 VHS format and was titled " David Carradines Tai Chi For The Mind & Body" and received mostly impressive reviews. This long awaited UK DVD version has the added bonus of some nice stuff in the extras menu and also the advantage of being able to choose either the AM (mind) or the PM (body) routine at the push of a button and without any old fashioned fast forewarding.

It is a shame they never kept the Mind & Body title but that does not take away the fact that this is very simple and highly enjoyable and beneficial couple of Tai Chi workouts

The first session is the AM (mind) Tai Chi and fine for any time of day. However ... Read More:

When I started watching wrestling with the Rumble in 2000, I was fascinated by the Hardy Boyz, or rather Jeff. Imagine my amazement when they were split from tag competition into singles on two different shows, and Matt was the one to become popular, while Jeff painted himself in day-glo before disappearing into obscurity. The two documentaries presented here reflect this split in talent perfectly. While the Matt disc is interesting, insightful and concise, the Jeff disc is rambling, showy and laughable.

Matt's story involves his early aspirations to become a promoter, as well as a performer. It deals with his early days in Jeff's shadow, to his rise to popularity as Version 1 and his messy breakup with Lita and falling out with Edge. It offers ... Read More:

Bernard Hopkins arogant and racist boast that he would not get beat by no "white-boy" came back to haunt him .... However, as great as both Calzaghe and Hopkins are, this fight was a huge let down. There was no love lost during the build up to this fight but the in fight action didnt live upto the fights build up. The styles didnt gel and it was an ugly and boring fight. The right man won but it was a very close points decision. Thankfully this DVD also has the fight between David Haye and Enzo Maccarinelli which was entertaining (while it lasted) so this DVD isnt a huge waste.

The only people who will buy this DVD are fans of Calzaghe or budding boxing historians (of which I am both). I have huge respect for both fighters ... but this fight was not ... Read More:

This has to be the best movie ever made. Just look at that stunning opening sequence. Few sights are as beautiful as seeing Robert De Niro prepare himself for another big fight. However, this is the calm before the storm as, in his best movie so far, Martin Scorcese shows us the the world of middle weight champion Jake La Motta, as the anger he uses to defeat his opponents in the boxing ring soon leaks out of him as he turns against the ones he loves. Scorcese brilliantly juxtaposes graceful and stylised boxing fight with documentary style home sequences to make the latter seem more shocking, and the former more cinematic. The editing and cinematography excell just about any film done when these two became important features in movies. Robert De Niro's submerssion ... Read More:

I bought this because of previous reviews. The story is predictable but none the worse for that. Reeves is always good value and his character is a decent enough chap (playing a similar role to that he made his own in 'Point Break'). The swearing means it will not be ok for the family to watch, not under twelves certainly. The soundtrack is really excellent and the quality of the DVD is fairly remarkable too. The football footage is beautiful. Some smiles and a few laughs too. Another one to keep and revisit. 7/10

The product description calls this a compilation packed with action, interviews, and unseen footage. Fair enough, that's what it gives you; though there doesn't seem to be much "unseen" footage to speak of.

I can only recommend this DVD for loyal fans, new fans would do well to avoid this.

---------------------

If you're a loyal, old fan of wrestling (or the WWE to be precise) I suppose you might appreciate re-living the nostalgic moments this DVD contains. The two major problems you'll suffer would be:

1. The sound*; the DVD-sound-transfer seems to have destroyed all the (satisfyingly) loud cheering and atmosphere, making what seemed like an exciting moment become a funeral reception.

I am a keen cyclist and enjoy the spectacle of the tour de france. The early history is interesting and full of some interesting characters.
I only gave it 4 stars - simply because of Sean Kellys awefully segments. For the most part its good old Phil doing the commentary!
If you like cycling and like the tour - then get it!

The quality of Arsenal's season review DVD's is always top notch - probably the best around. Brilliant picture quality and nice extras.

And the standard of football this team played is well worth savouring. The fact that they played "the beautiful game" so consistently yet didn't win anything says more about the cynical nature of the modern game than it does about Arsenal.

Billabong Odyssey is one of the best, most brilliantly filmed big wave moview of all time. Not only is it genuinely tense and at some points (the end scene big wave surf contest is nail biting!!) it also deals with the future evolution of tow in surfing. The wave riding performances are astounding.

The only problem with this film, is the second DVD, which contains average shortboarding footage at low resolution.

BUY IT for the big wave scenes made via helicopter.
