Season 2 of HBOs excellent 'Rome' continues on exactly were the first season finished. Caesar has been assasinated and the subsequent power struggle once again sets Rome towards civil war. Mark Antony and Octavian must fight for survival and they try to bide for time until they can extract revenge. Once again the acting is hugely impressive and the characters are all deep, complex and highly enjoyable. This is a wonderfull production and its hard to find a better television series. Its not for the faint hearted, there is plenty of blood, sex and violence for the more timid of us to shy away from ..... but if, like me, you like your drama's gritty and realistic then this is for you. Excellent.

The answer is....YES! I think this series is actually better than the first one, which is high praise indeed. The dialogue is more hilarious than ever, there are some great supporting characters and Coogan has reached genius level with his portrayal of Partridge. In my humble opinion, episode 3 ("Bravealan")is the best 30 minutes of tv comedy anywhere EVER. There are a couple of scenes that don't quite come off, notably a muddled scene in episode 6 where Alan guests on a christian radio show. But it's churlish to criticise because overall it's a masterpiece.

Contrary to other reviewers, we actually avoided the series on TV as we didn't much care for the main players in relation to past performances (or perhaps to be more specific, we didn't like what they were in). The only exception perhaps was Dennis Waterman who has pretty much played the same sort of role from comedy to drama. However, we picked up series 3 on UK Gold, when we were struggling to find something decent to watch one evening. We were pleasantly surprised at how good it was, and it has the right proportions of humour and drama to make you believe in the stories and in the characters. I was going to buy this boxset for my boyfriend for christmas because he absolutly loves only fools and horses and unfortunatly we don't have UKTV gold as we only have free view. anyway as i said i was going to buy him this for christmas from where i work as it is only £60 then with staff discount and vouchers it would have been only £37! but after reading reviews i'm not so sure........ am i making the right decision buying it if i'm only going to be paying £37???? please help

After watching the second X files film (which was a bit disappointing) I felt very nostalgic for the series which had spawned it. Only £65 or so on amazon, so that's about 30p per episode, plus you get the first feature film. Most people must know what the show is about, right? An x file is a case which has been deemed to be unsolvable by the FBI, usually because it has some sort of paranormal explanation which no normal agent will think about. Agent Fox Mulder set about investigating the X Files and became an expert in the paranormal, after coming to believe he witnessed his little sister being abducted by aliens. cant wait for this dvd to be relesed. I missed most of season 4 and the few episodes i did see looked great roll on 14 july cant wait to watch mac stel and the team they are they best csi show by far. The cover looks great aswell.

If you are interested in India or Indian history, or if you like Passage to India, you will love this. The atmosphere and historical feel is terrific. Credit for the subtle story, in which the characters are complex with complex flaws, goes mostly to the author but also to the film for resisting the temptation to dumb it down. But the best thing is surely the acting. I often watch a film and feel that one or two parts are perfectly played and the others are indifferent. In Jewel in the Crown I had that feeling with virtually all, if not all, the important parts. I particularly liked Tim Piggot Smith who was unsympathetic at first but by the end was almost a tragihero.

Hustle is pure brilliance. You watch the episodes and you think wow that was a brilliant con. Its great how they dont show you how they did the con until the end of the episode. Some of the cons are so good that once youve been told how they were done you want to watch it again to see if you can spot the bits you missed. Its got comedy and the whole thing is brilliant. Great acting and great cons. In my opinion its better than the oceans trilogy. The group of characters work perfectly together. 10 outa 10.
