I must be missing the point with this series,really I must.I watch it,a character makes an inane comment and the audience burst into uncontrollable laughter while I sit there stoney faced.I mean,the series ran for a few years so millions must have loved it.It is so unfunny that it goes beyond my comprehension.I know everyone has different tastes but why is this so popular?From what I have seen it's a group of pretty people sitting around drinking coffee.Then one of them starts to sing an incredibly unfunny song and there it is again,complete hysterics. This is a fantastic collection and at the current Amazon price it is a total bargain, Amazon has it a £17.98, Cheapest i have seen elsewhere is £48.00. The show itself a real classic, With the perfect collection of great writing and superb acting. If you love comedies buy it, If you don't and you want cheering up during the credit crunch buy it,. You won't regret this purchase.

Series six does not reallly measure up to the high standards Spooks has set. First of all, visually it's much more conventional than the earlier series. But stories and characters were always Spooks' strongest assets. The stories are just not as gripping as they used to be and they seem to be running out of ideas. The first two episodes are about biological warfare, the third is about chemical warfare. The development of the storylines is sometimes not very convincing in terms of arriving at a solution. Too often there is the deus ex machina which is not satisfying. The characters are interesting as always, particularly nerw arrival Connie. I nearly bought season 4.0 but after reading the rewiews I will rather wait for the REAL complete season. This is the same problem like with Lost, Heroes, House M.D. etc., due to the strike you get only half the content. I sympathize with their situation but to call 10 episodes the comlete 4th season is really cheeky. They just had to split it up in 4.1 and 4.2 so the people would have known.

I'm pretty certain if you're looking to buy this, you're not a new-comer to the series, so I won't break it down for you - so many reviews on each season for pick from, I won't bore you. Course if you are a new-comer... sorry. Simply reason for this review, is to tell you exactly what you're getting from this instead of the individual boxsets. Firstly, space-saver. Sounds stupid, maybe, but for those that are racing up 100s or 1000s of DVDs, it's a valid point, (yeah, that would be me, of course) and it is a growing problem. Secondly, you get extras that weren't on the originals, though flipside, if you have the first edition of Season One, (the 'format problem' one in the red case), you miss out on the extras on this, if you're swapping/up-grading). ... I came late, but I am now an ardent Dibley disciple. Dawn French is delightful as the chocolate devouring, incurably romantic, caring and careworn Vicar. She attends to a tiny community of brilliantly barmy and quite certifiable characters, including her fabulously gerbel-brained verger Alice Tinker. The scripts are crammed with deliciously fruity exchanges between the characters, showing off first-rate ensemble acting and many set pieces of virtuoso silliness. Particularly great is Roger Lloyd Pack, who glows with pungent pride as a farmer with better-left-unseen tendencies, and who develops an insatiable lust for Geraldine (the lovely lusty Vicar). Quite simply the best TV series ever made. Blows every other American and British TV dramas out of the water. Watch from season 1 through to 5 and be astounded and amazed at what heights TV drama can reach. From street corners to the corridors of power in Baltimore, stories are told in staggering detail. Excellent cast, fantastic characters. The Wire season 5 is just as good as seasons 1 - 4. The story ends, good guys don't always win, bad guys get away, so authentic in it's depiction is what makes it so good. No more seasons of the wire? In the words of Clay Davis "Shiiiiiiiiiit"

The only problem I have with The Wire is having to get to the end. This, the penultimate series, is by far the greatest drama to have EVER been televised and having just watched the final episode I feel almost empty knowing I have only one more series left to enjoy. However, I am also looking forward to watching the entire box set all over again. There's always so much happening in The Wire I'm sure there'll be plenty I've missed! This series concentrated mostly on Baltimore's educational system and provided a platform for some of the finest young actors I've ever seen. Having been subjected to the whole 8 series keeping the little ones occupied I was curious to see how this would work with a new voice and clearly american take on the tales. Well the addition of Pierce Brosnan's voice as the narrator is a great choice and the story and songs kept my 23 month old captivated and happy for several hours. The songs are a change and he jiggles around to them with glee. The extras keep him entertained as well. This makes a great gift to any thomas fan.
