I watched this film 'cold', without looking at trailers and reading reviews or 'the book'. So her is my lasting impression. The characters were excellent and the story moved through action sequences and general dialogue without a pre-set pattern so, in short, the viewer could be shocked at any moment. This was used to great effect in many scenes, to the benefit of the storyline, until the 'end' of the film. However, after watching almost everything there was to see, then getting ready for some sort of finale to answer a whole list of questions and discover the, 'who', 'what', 'where', 'when', 'why' of the whole film, we are suddenly greeted with the 'end credits'. I'm not normally a fan of "family entertainment" or "fantasy" films ("Lord of the Rings" being an exception.) Even the thought of sitting through Harry Potter (I had to turn it off after 10 minutes) bores me. However, when I saw that Danes, De Niro and Pfeiffer were starring in "Stardust", I decided to give it a go. From beginning to end, it was a delight. I won't go into details about the plot, that's been written about enough. One of the great pleasures of the film is the light hand with which it is handled without ever diminishing the intensity of the various aspects of the story: the romance, the evil, the adventure. I, like many people, am becoming a huge fan of Del Toro's work both in English and Spanish and having really enjoyed the first Hellboy was excited about seeing this sequel. I saw it twice in the cinema, once in London in a special preview screening and again back at home on it's last night - and was completely bowled over both times. For someone like me who watched Ray Harryhausen creatures slugging it out on TV as a kid with his jaw open - this movie is a dream come true, Del Toro has just unlatched the top of his head and spilled his imagination onto celluloid and the result is amazing. Being a great fan of Desperate Housewives I was eagerly waiting for Season 4 to be available. However, I find this season too fast-moving with too many sombre events crammed into each episode. True, we only get 17 episodes instead of the 23 or 24 of the previous seasons, but far more happens in this season. We get very little time to laugh (at our own follies), and are whipped along from one catastrophe to the next. I find it a great pity ... I liked being able to see myself (as a housewife and mother). No time for this now. I'll no doubt be getting Season 5 ... in a year's time ... but will be looking forward to it less. By the way, do watch them in order. Reference is made all the way along to the previous seasons 1, 2 and 3.

I watched the first few series on ITV and couldn't wait for the rest of the episode. It was humorous and still told the P&P story except you can imagine yourself in the story. Fantastic stuff

Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging [2008] On a cinema trip with my mates one Saturday we decided to see 'Angus, thongs and perfect snogging'. I hadn't read any of the books but all my friends had and said they were amazing. And it turns out the film was too! It's incredibly funny and honest and I can't wait to get a copy of the DVD for christmas. Film of the year for me :)

I am a fan of the TV show, seen them all, so when I saw this in the sale had to give it a try. Some of the stuff in this is so outrageous that I am a little suprised it made it on DVD, but I am glad it did. Some of the stuff on this had me crying with laughter. A must purchase (unless you are easily offended!)

I remember seeing this on BBC1 last Christmas and to my surprise it was an entertaining and pleasant way to spend half an hour. Although it doesn't reach the quality of the first two Shrek films, this Christmas special reuniting all the great characters is still funny, and as a whole I actually liked it more than the decent but still disappointing third film. Yes, it is only half an hour long, but is still good entertainment for the Christmas season. A perfect stocking filler for all Shrek fans and you can pick it up for a good price.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is another classic Indy adventure which stands up extremely well to the first three movies in the series. Those who were upset by what they saw as an 'unrealistic ending' obviously have never seen the ending to an Indiana Jones film! Put simply, this is classic Indiana Jones. Now onto the Blu ray disc itself - the image is crystal clear and the sound is superb. There are also numerous making-ofs and trailers. The only thing that would have made this release even better would have been a commentary track by Steven Spielberg and George Lucas. All in all, this is a great movie and if you are a true Indiana Jones fan, you won't be disappointed by this.
