DVD : Kiss Daddy Goodbye [1981] (REGION 1) (NTSC)
There are many cases of trailers promising more than the films themselves can deliver. In this instance, it's the cover which it more chilling than anything in the film. The male lead is played by Fabian, who as always brings a degree of depth to the character even with a poor script. The female lead is played well by Marilyn Burns, probably most famous for "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre". The story is very average and the continuity leaves a lot to be desired regarding sunlight or lack of it.
As for the DVD release, it is a very poor transfer. It looks like it is taken from an umpteenth generation video tape which contains severe dropout. It is a shame when any film is reproduced in such a manner.
Even at the bargain price, I would only suggest ... Read More:

DVD : Tales from the Crypt: Ritual [2001] (REGION 1) (NTSC)
Just when you thought Tales from the crypt couldnt jump the shark here it does a fine job of that. The story isnt strictly crypt, there is no classic intro like on the other two previous movies except the very fake puppet of the cryptkeeper wearing a wig and acting all rasta! This bit is funny but not true crypt! The acting was reminiscent to the earlier seasons of crypt where the story really isnt that scary, funny or engaging. The result is been there done that.

DVD : The Grapes of Death [1978] (REGION 1) (NTSC)
They're spraying the vineyards with something which won't agree with everyone. A couple of girls travelling through this blighted wine region discover the worst and the hunt is on. It's complemented by the photography, which is excellent. The acting, however, is stultified, but then there's not much of a script or a plot to inspire anyone.

Two stars, because of the ... Read More:
