i dont care if this is a b movie or not, it genuinlly terrified me!!i couldnt get to sleep for ages after!!the acting may not be up to scratch (barbara is incrediably irritating sitting and not saying a work, you feel like smacking her)but the story, though old, always freaks me out and i think it will freak you out too!!!

Except gore, this flick's got nothing. Stupid plot, bad actors, annoying characters.

The clichèd portrayal of mental patients is not helping either.

Avoid this crapfest at all costs!

Someone once had a decent idea for a zombie revenge film featuring sympathetically viewed nazis wiped out in a French village during WW2.
Then they tried to make it into a film.
Clearly the only way to obtain any cash was to promise lots of naked young flesh and it was all spent on said young ladies. Clearly, nothing was spent on hiring actors, writers or even a special effects department. I have seen better at a school play (no, really! If your zombies have to crawl out of a lake, use waterproof paint which isn't going to run all over the victims.) There is nothing at all that is good about this movie. Nothing.

Ignoring the fact that this is more Cannibal based than Zombie based, this is a middle of the road adventure for both genres.

It is basically a poor mans version of Zombie Flesh Eaters (and even shares the same star). It has a plot, though it's logic escapes me (as it should in this type of film), revolving around an island, some cannibals and a doctor. It has actors, that aren't very good, ehere is some gore, a strange logo that keeps appearing (with it's own sound effect), cannibals that only fear zombies and... zombies that aren't as well made or as plentiful or Fluci's Zombie Flesh Eaters.

Still, it had a bigger budget than I expected and didn't dwell on plot points long enough for me to care about it's stupidity. You ... Read More:

I saw this recently on television. I spent more time laughing at how bad this film was. I wouldn't call it a low budget film - it was more like a NO budget film

DVD : Dawn of the Dead: Ultimate Edition [1980] (REGION 1) (NTSC)
A news show in Pittsburgh begins reporting that the zombies are now beginning to win the battles against the living. Reporter Francine (Gaylen Ross) leaves the station with Steven (David Emge) in a station chopper. At the same time, a police squadron is called to an apartment complex in the ghetto for counts of cannibalism. After battling the zombies, two police officers, Peter (Ken Foree) and Roger, (Scott H. Reiniger) find the helicopter with the escaping Francine and Steven and leave with them. Finally making their way to Monroeville Mall, the four find that the complex has everything they need to survive. Barricading themselves inside, they live in peace, occasionally meeting the zombies. They eventually decide to give the mall to the zombies, as they seem to have ... Read More:

Anchor bay have always been a good label but now the foray into the world of HD for them on blu ray. Day of the dead is one of the first releases on the labels initial hd output and its a welcome treat.

Don't be expecting a transfer akin to the blockbusters of the last couple of years as this is a 20 yr old low budget horror but this is a nice upgrade ove r the standard dvd.

As you would expect the daytime scenes look the best, depth to the image is noticably better as are the colours. The bunker scenes come off the worse but still lokk better than dvd. The tunnel sequence near the end looked alot better..blacks were rock solid..my old dvd had a washed out black look but here looks fab.

Great film and decent if not mindblowing hd transfer ... Read More:

... due to Mindy Clarke and some really well done gore scenes - probably some of the best seen in American horror films of the 80s and 90s. A story is almost non-existing, but hey, it's a ZOMBIE MOVIE, so what?

DVD : I Walked With a Zombie/The Body Snatcher (REGION 1) (NTSC)
The Body Snatcher:
For a low-budget, B movie horror quickie, The Body Snatcher holds up remarkably well as a tightly-told, well-acted story. The horror is in the situation, not the actors' make-up or the staggering around of corpses. Corpses there are, but they're freshly dug up, and their purpose is not to grasp and choke, but to be dissected by a complex and morally ambiguous surgeon.

Dr. Wolfe MacFarlane (Henry Daniell) is a brilliant surgeon and teacher in 1831 Edinburgh. He is on the verge of medical breakthroughs involving the spine and the spinal cord. For his work, he needs fresh corpses to dissect for his research. John Gray (Boris Karloff), a cabman, provides those corpses for a price. Gray digs up the freshly interred and delivers them to MacFarlane's laboratory ... Read More:
