I got my 1tb My Book on Monday, it lasted a whole day and then started smelling of burnt electronics. Contacted Amazon, they were excellent and sent me a replacement Thursday, started it up, backed up some files. Got home backed up some more files from home pc then suddenly it died. It lasted 8 hours. Thankfully Amazon seem really good about replacing dodgy products but why stock them in the first place.

The western digital size passport/mybook drives are too small for this case, however they can be held within due to the elastic strp holding it snug. The case opens up in two one side for the drive and the other for cables or other stuff you'd like to keep. I prefer to keep the included cable with the passport drive which also helps to stop the small drive moving around. On the other side I keep a longer double headed lindy cable (used for older machines where one usb slot is not enough power, so two slots are required) this stops the drive moving the vertically and not put a strain on the strap. I bought the card for my Olympus E-510 to be able to shot panorama shots. It is much slower that the CF Sandisk extreme III so I am really thinking that did not worth the money. Otherwise the card is ok, the price is fair. My advice is, if you have a camera with CD+xD do not bother to buy the xD card.

I have noticed very few mac reviews for this drive so here goes. Luckily mac uses Fat32 so no need to reformat the drive to NTFS. The drive comes preloaded with the Turbo USB program for Mac, let me say this is a godsend. I am able to transfer over 70GB from one external drive to the new Buffalo in about 30 minutes, that is fast. The drive makes the usual little noises that external drives make but nothing that would distract you in any way. The drive is well designed visually and looks good with my Macbook. The powere on/off feature is great, as I all I have to do the turn it on is plug it into a usb port, and to turn off just eject the drive from my mac. Overall the drive offers great transfer speeds, looks, and fantastic value!

I owned the old version of this in a 250GB but had filled it up so was pleasantly suprised to see that they had updated the look of the product, looks like my PS3 however that really wasn't that important, the thing which grabbed me was the power usage, 75% less than a standard drive they use some new fangled technology which allows the drive to go into a park mode when not searching for information which means it is not running burning my cash. Also pleased to see that they included free back up software and encryption to give an element off added value. From a technical point of view the transfer rates are excellent, I transfered the contents of my Laptops hardrive 80GB in under an hour using a standard USB cable from the box. Really please I stuck with Buffalo.

Bought this device just over 6 months ago and it worked brilliantly, data transferred quickily and easily and then one day I booted up my pc and discovered this drive was not showing, went through all the logical procedures, checked the cables were properly connected and checked the fuse... I even tried connecting it to a different computer but still nothing! Fortunately Western Digital accepted that it was still under warranty and have agreed to check it and if necessary replace it, but with a warning that if they do replace it they will not recover any data. They do however recommend a few companies for data recovery and I sent the drive to one of them, they reported that the drive had suffered extreme electrical damage, presumably due to the fact that the only ...
