i have had this printer (bought from amazon) for 6 months. i had to give up a lovely epson that had never let me down as it wouldn't work with my new Mac. the very good reviews the nice customers at amazon gave this machine prompted me into its purchase above a new epson 680.

the scanner is great. it has beginner and advanced user status and is very easy to format. the prints are super fast although the colour management is not so compatible with the new iMac's monitor, eg, the prints don,t look like they do on the screen. but then i take my work up to a local print shop and they use PC's and the colour saturation is always an issue. i have to drop the saturation by 25% to print out what i see in front of me. altering the colour ... This is an exellent product, with very good quality prints and scans. It also feels well-designed and easy to use. It was simple to set up and it is now working very well with my Apple Mac.

However, Mac users should note that the CD/DVD printing software only works with Windows. As it happens, I already my own Mac-friendly CD printing software (Disc Cover), and I can tell you that this works well with the printer.

This is a lovely printer, and it's a shame about the Windows-only piece of software. For this reason I have given it 4 stars, but would happily upgrade to 5 stars if HP were to make it totally Mac-friendly.

I bought this all-in-one printer and scanner almost one year ago. I have printed pictures and letters etc with it, and also done a small amount of scanning with it too. It isn't intended to produce top notch prints or scans - for that you'll have to fork out a lot more money that this machine costs - but it does do the job it's supposed to do and it does it well. That is, it gives good general results without costing a fortune. I bought it to replace an older Epson printer and I have found this one gives better quality prints, and also costs a lot less to run as the ink goes a lot further than the Epson model.

The software that came with the Canon was installed without any fuss, and the build quality is excellent for the price. It operates ... Read More:

This is a superb little printer at a superb little price. I've had it for a while now, and haven't yet discovered any annoyances at all.

I *would* have given it 5 stars, but I'm afraid I knocked one off because of the manufacturer's mind-bogglingly cheapskate decision not to include the necessary printer cable. If the cable was an expensive item, it might be understandable, but since you can buy one for only £2-£4, it's just... well, it's just plain cheapskate.

Of course, if you're replacing an older printer, you'll already have the cable, but that's not really the point.

Having got that off my chest, I've nothing else against this machine whatsoever.

I use Linux, not Windows, and I half-expected this to be ... Read More:

I ordered this printer on 12th oct it arrived on the morning of 15th oct, i unpacked it and 15 minutes later i was using it. Its certainly the best printer i have had, its a little noisey when starting up, but it prints, copy's and the photo prints are excellent, all i'm waiting for is to see how long the inks last. The printer comes with a set of cartridges. I would recommend this printer.

After my canon iP1500 packed in I browsed the net to find a replacement and purchased an iP 2600 which had several good reviews. My printer arrived post free in 2 days from Amazon and I am delighted with the printer-it was easy to set up (about 10 minutes) and the results particularly photo prints excellent.
This appears to be a very good printer for the price especially for someone like me who is not a heavy user and occasional photo printer.
I would certainly recommend it-the only downside being the cartridge price but this is on a par with the majority of modern printers. An USB cable is not provided but I was able to use the one from my previous printer

I wanted a printer that worked on a network because I was tired of having to switch on my wife's computer every time I needed to request a print via our wired network. When the old Epson gave up the ghost I decided to investigate Canon printers as they seem to come out on top in independent reviews. I have not been disappointed and so far it has performed impeccably.

The set-up guide appears rather awesome initially but if you read through it and follow the instructions carefully you should have no problem. Attaching anything to a network is often problematic but setting up our two computers to work with the printer through our network was trouble-free.

I haven't tried all the facilities yet (of which there are many) but it produces good ... Read More:

Having grown sick and tired of ink-jet printers, I decided to have a look at lasers and was pleasantly surprised by the price of the P1005. I only need basic black and white capabilities, and thanks to the previous reviewers' comments, it was a bit of a no-brainer when it came to making a decision! I'm not disappointed.

The P1005 doesn't take up much room, it look fairly solid, the software is quick and easy to install (I'm running Windows XP) and the print quality is excellent. Okay, it's a bit noisy (but no more so than my ink-jet) and the paper does warp very slightly (I haven't tried better quality paper yet - so maybe it's just down to the cheap brand I've been using so far) and it doesn't come with the necessary USB cable. However, in terms of value ... Read More:

If you buy this printer to do cards (like I did) then you'll be disappointed, as it will not print on card. I did get ONE sheet of card through (after 20 or so attempts) and had to push it hard, just at the right time, to get it to go through - and it printed OK, but cannot get another piece of card through to finish my project. What baffles me is that it will take it round the roller when you are told to press the button after it has stated "paper jam" - sometimes even stopping at the correct place to start printing, but after a pause it then pushes it all the way out, like it would if had printed on it.

Apart from that it prints on photo paper excellently and the quality of colour photos (even with cheap refill ink in the sample cartidges) is excellent.

This is a good little printer with a small footprint, good build quality, very easy set-up, the reassurance of HP reliability, and a design that is easy on the eye. It took me only a few minutes to set up, following HP's step-by-step instructions, and immediately delivered a good quality print. It was recommended by a technician friend as worth the few extra pounds it costs compared with its cheaper rivals and I have not been disappointed.

A 'kettle lead' to connect the printer to the mains is supplied. If you do not already have a current-style printer cable (4 pin USB type A to 4 pin USB type B) you will need to buy one.
