This iPod looked dodgy ever since it came out. It looks more or less a miniature version of the ipod classic. It's just £50 than a classic. This only store 8 GB while classic store 80 GB and it has no extra features whatsoever. Finally the 4th generation is out and that can do things the classic can't so don't buy this.

For the money, I guess this isn't a bad little machine, but I'd agree with all the other people who've said that it's a bit too quiet. In an otherwise quiet environment it's fine, but out in the real world, even at full volume, it really doesn't cut the mustard. I find it loud enough for rock music, but pretty useless for talking books, on the street or on the train, and especially on planes. You can't hear a damn thing! I'm not a big classical listener, but I also find that orchestral stuff isn't as loud as it might be. Listening to a Star Wars soundtrack the other morning as I walked to work, I could barely hear it even at full volume, and the road I was walking alongside wasn't THAT busy. This CD player marks a real shifting point in Sony's history, since they have made some of the most worthless player's on the market! Just put a brand new CD in and it would jump about like a hyper-active problem child!!! lol. But this player doesn't do that... my hat goes off to Sony for sorting out a real design no no! Skipping CD players. I've had this CD player for about 6 months now and it play's all of my CD's just fine. Plus they have sorted out the bass function this time around also (as it sounded very distorted when turned up beyond mid, but not this time around). So this player is an all round winner! I would really recommend this personal CD player.

I primarily bought this for the remote functionality as being able to control the ipod remotely is an invaluable addition for any ipod. And as a remote this little device works perfect, you can play/pause/skip, fast forward, fast rewind, as well as switch the ipod on and off. An LCD would have been helpful, but nonetheless as a remote this device works flawlessly. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the radio feature. When you first start setting up the radio it starts off promising. When it is plugged in the ipod immediately recognizes it and adds an extra Radio option to its main menu. The functions on this unit are great. It has two alarm settings (one for during the week and one for weekends) which is great. The sound quality for the CD player is fine. The setting up was easy thanks to the decent instructions. BUT - I can't use it. There is a low hum emitted at all times by the unit (nothing to do with the CD Player) and because I want it on the bedside table (near my head) it keeps me awake. I have been onto Sony but they are not helpful, advising me to take it to a Service Centre - I suppose it is unlucky that there are none near me. So not a great product unless you are a heavy sleeper.

I was absolutely amazed when the item was delivered on the following day fist class recorded having ordered it on 3rd October and was told to expect it on the 13th, well done Niche and Royal Mail! The player is easy to use but the display is on the small side and requires good light to view. The buttons are OK but the multiple function fast forward, stop, pause/play and reverse all on one button are not as convenient as single function buttons. This player replaced a Goodmans player that failed only after about 18 months, but the buttons on this were much more user friendly.

This CD player is certainly portable, but not very convenient because there is no belt clip or means of attachment to clothing. In other words, you can be stationery with it on a surface near you or moving provided you hold it! Unfortunately, this deficiency cannot be seen without cutting open the firm plastic packaging, which then voids the conditions for return to Amazon. The sound quality is satisfactory but the "mega bass" does not do much for my hearing.
