Very usefull to have one of these, i use it in low light / night, landscape and still life photography. I find it perfect when shooting seascapes and need to get waves just as they are breaking. Great bit of kit and highly recommended.

If your going to be taking alot of night time long shutter speed shots or want to use the bulb setting on the camera, if you have any problems with camera shake while on tripods or if you want to take portrait shots where your not looking into the eye piece the whole time, well then get this.

If you just want to try out taking night time photos then I would just say use the timer on the camera. If you then decide that you like night shots and want to take more than get it.

It is a very handy little piece of equipment but if you do get it just don't let it sit in the bottom of your bag. The cord wraps up very neatly around itself and the bit that sticks in the camera can be put into the bottom (you can see the little hole ... Read More:

A word of warning, if like me you have used one of these before and were expecting the device to be the same as the one used by Amazon in the photograph then you might be disappointed.

Targus have changed the design of the current model and it is different from that photgraphed. Of course, it is personal choice but I have to say that I preferred the old one as it seemed to fit my hand more comfortably and the layout of the buttons is, to my mind, less user friendly.

Probably best to check the Targus website before buying to see what you will be getting.

I've 'only' given 4 stars as the device is not perfect: what do you expect for a bottom-of-the-range product? However, it performs very well, has a reasonable range, etc. I've just passed mine on to my son and have ordered another.

I bought one of these (without full research I have to admit) and discovered the delay shutter "feature". If the RC-5 had the option of instant shutter it would be perfect. Buy the RC-1 (if you can find it) or go for a cable release...

I needed to combine my AMP, TV and Media Centre remote into one. Choose this cos of it's looks and programmability.

Works a treat with my AMP (Denon) and TV (Sharp) and Media Centre. The other remotes are now neatly hiding in the drawers somewhere.

It also looks the business, i.e. not cheap.

Some of the problems I've had before buying this remote controller :-
1) camera moves on tripod when pressing shutter release.
2) tripod falls over (honestly, once!) when pressing shutter release.
3) camera shakes when taking long exposure time shots.
4) many pictures of my bum as I try to beat the 3-second shutter release delay while getting myself in the picture.

All cured with this tiny gadget. An excellent accessory and so simple to use - there's only one button! And with a battery life of 30,000 operations (so the bumph says) it'll probably last longer than I will!

Only problem is it's size (52 x 22 x 6 mm).
Far too easy to lose. :-)
