I bought this camera via Amazon and use it for both business and pleasure. I needed a camera that provided high quality images both still and video for business with detailed views of the environment and macro images for forensic work. I have not been at all disappointed. I have used it in the UK "as is" and got magnificent results with pinpoint clear video and stills. I have also been using it in the Middle East but to protect it from humidity and sand bought the SPK-HCD Sports Pack. Although bulky that performs well. Editing footage is far easier and more rapid than with conventional film to computer transfer methods particularly with the provided "Picture Motion Browser" software. Just attach a USB cable and away you go.But for full HD quality ... Read More:

Looks great, professional styling, nice to hold and feels much better than average build quality for this level of camera. Easy to use. Optical stabilisation is weak, but perhaps you shouldn't expect it to do too much when zooming in. Good range of easily accessed manual controls. Down side is that none of the accessories are available in the UK at present - eg: external mic, carrying case, lense adaptors etc. Also, the TOD file system is a bit of a pain by not allowing file transfer in full HD mode direct into Final Cut Express or iMovie 08 on a Mac - but there are workarounds and image quality is still impressive - but I'm judging it simply as a user rather than an enthusiast..... For me it certainly does what I want and notwithstanding naff reviews ... Read More:

Recently made a start into video editting on my PC.

My first job i set myself though was to transfer my old analogue home videos (from VHS tape) to the PC for editing and burning to DVD.

For this job I invested in a Dazzle Fusion and a USB2/Firewire combo card. Windows XP recognised the new card, installed the Dazzle Fusion s/w and, voila, it all worked first time.

Capturing the analogue video input couldn't be easier. Just press 'play' on the VCR after connecting it to the 'Fusion' box and then hit the record button within the supplied s/w.

All worked first and every time. Up and running in five minutes, literally.
