Quite simply the best value for money Canon prime lens you can buy! Amazing quality photos in low light conditions - great for portraits. As countless others have noted, the only negative is the cheap build quality, but then any lens needs to be cared for! Used with care produces great results, full stop.

Bought as a carry in your pocket point and shoot and very happy with it. Good battery life, Good auto focus/exposure control. Produces good results on the go. So easy to use even my 3 year old managed some good shots with it.

I've owned my Canon 1000D for about 3 weeks now and have given it a reasonable test drive. The one thing that strikes me most is the ease at which I can find my way around the camera instantly to find the correct settings (very intuitive). The Camera noise is non-exsistant at ISO 800 and ISO 1600,(outstanding). The EOS 1000D is very similar in shape and style to the 450D, it even shares the exact same "LIVE VIEW" technology, all the button's are the same, layout the same, just the 1000D sports a 10mp Sensor and the 450D a 12mp Sensor. I so far have only used the 18-55mm image stabilized kit lens, and am very satisfied with the results, the 1000D Kit lens construction and optics are far superior to the kit lens supplied with the Canon ... This is the natural partner for the 18-55 lens that came as kit with the body. The lens is not actually 100% plastic as most of the people states, it is in part made by plastic, but the part that attacches to the camera body is painted alluminium, it looks and weights like plastic but is metal! The IS is amazing, and the lens very sharp, even at 250mm... once attached to your body, the only limit is your creativity. this is the best zoom lens around for a cheap budget if you own as EOS camera. Best Lens 195 pounds can buy.

Was asked to be the wedding photographer at my sisters wedding, so decided that I needed a proper flash. This was recommended to me and I was not dissappointed. Fully adjustable head for bounch flash with diffuser for macro work. Just leave it on fully auto or adjust as much as you like. For studio photographers you can link these up for remote shooting. A must have for the next step up!

So good I need to buy another one.......! does what is says on the box but don't try one handed turnaround on lense otherwise its goodbye and another trip to Amazon! If you are in Managgio, Lake Como there is one at the bottom of the small harbour just waiting rescue - if you can get it then its yours!

I bought this lens about eight months ago for my Canon 350D. If like me you bought the kit that comes bundled with the 18-55mm lens you'll notice there is a big gap when it comes to zoom/telephoto shots, this is a great budget tele-photo zoom lens that does what it says on the tin, and fills the gap nicely. I am an amateur photographer at best and still learning, but after using the lens for a while I was disappointed to learn that the f stop values really do make a big difference - the widest aperture you will be able to set this lens to is 4.0 at 75mm and only 5.6 at 300mm, if your really serious you need a fast lens like f/2.8, and definitely with IS (image stabilisation) - the lens is not that heavy (for me), but during a long shoot it ... I have one of these, required if the Wide angle lens adapter Canon Wide Conversion Lens WC-DC58B for PowerShot G7 & G9 - 0.75 x (27mm in 35mm format) which I also have is to be used (also the telephoto adapter Canon Lens Conversion Adapter LA-DC58H for PowerShot G7 & G9 which I do not have).
