i have had this printer (bought from amazon) for 6 months. i had to give up a lovely epson that had never let me down as it wouldn't work with my new Mac. the very good reviews the nice customers at amazon gave this machine prompted me into its purchase above a new epson 680.

the scanner is great. it has beginner and advanced user status and is very easy to format. the prints are super fast although the colour management is not so compatible with the new iMac's monitor, eg, the prints don,t look like they do on the screen. but then i take my work up to a local print shop and they use PC's and the colour saturation is always an issue. i have to drop the saturation by 25% to print out what i see in front of me. altering the colour ... This is an exellent product, with very good quality prints and scans. It also feels well-designed and easy to use. It was simple to set up and it is now working very well with my Apple Mac.

However, Mac users should note that the CD/DVD printing software only works with Windows. As it happens, I already my own Mac-friendly CD printing software (Disc Cover), and I can tell you that this works well with the printer.

This is a lovely printer, and it's a shame about the Windows-only piece of software. For this reason I have given it 4 stars, but would happily upgrade to 5 stars if HP were to make it totally Mac-friendly.

I bought this all-in-one printer and scanner almost one year ago. I have printed pictures and letters etc with it, and also done a small amount of scanning with it too. It isn't intended to produce top notch prints or scans - for that you'll have to fork out a lot more money that this machine costs - but it does do the job it's supposed to do and it does it well. That is, it gives good general results without costing a fortune. I bought it to replace an older Epson printer and I have found this one gives better quality prints, and also costs a lot less to run as the ink goes a lot further than the Epson model.

The software that came with the Canon was installed without any fuss, and the build quality is excellent for the price. It operates ... Read More:

This is a superb little printer at a superb little price. I've had it for a while now, and haven't yet discovered any annoyances at all.

I *would* have given it 5 stars, but I'm afraid I knocked one off because of the manufacturer's mind-bogglingly cheapskate decision not to include the necessary printer cable. If the cable was an expensive item, it might be understandable, but since you can buy one for only £2-£4, it's just... well, it's just plain cheapskate.

Of course, if you're replacing an older printer, you'll already have the cable, but that's not really the point.

Having got that off my chest, I've nothing else against this machine whatsoever.

I use Linux, not Windows, and I half-expected this to be ... Read More:

I ordered this printer on 12th oct it arrived on the morning of 15th oct, i unpacked it and 15 minutes later i was using it. Its certainly the best printer i have had, its a little noisey when starting up, but it prints, copy's and the photo prints are excellent, all i'm waiting for is to see how long the inks last. The printer comes with a set of cartridges. I would recommend this printer.

I bought the SX200 from Tesco a couple of weeks ago. Needless to say the supplier Epson ink cartridges lasted only a few tens of page (no photos).
This is not unusual, as most people know, that only a small amount of ink is put in the cartridges supplied with new printers.
I am not unpleased with the printer as a whole, but I also bought a set of Tesco replacement ink cartridges (T0711 - T0714) badged as E312 for the black and E352 for a colour set. These are marked as Epson T0711 etc replacements, but the SX200 (or SX205) is not listed on the label. These did not work with the printer. Tesco helpline did know of this and they(Tesco) hope to have a new version out in a month or so. They have offered to replace the purchased cartridges.
Thanks Tesco ... Read More:

Full credit to Amazon. The first printer received was faulty (it seized up even before the installation of the ink cartridges)Immediate refund from Amazon. I ordered another one. Works perfectly and produces outstanding quality prints of digital photographs. Still to be considered is how long the ink cartridges last. Probably not long. This is where printer manufacturers make the most money. Irritations with this printer? Complicated wifi set up. Eventually cost me £40 to get it installed wirelessly by an IT company. Even more irritating the lack of facility to print in black ink only for a simple text document. Otherwise a nice looking, up market printer with many features that you will probably never use.

This printer is very nice. A very good scanning and copying function, with a very thorough set-up process. The printer is very quick and efficient with good ease of use with just the press of a button. The printer also has a fax function but I have never bothered to set that up. The only problem I do have with it though is that it uses quite a bit of ink, and the ink isn't cheap. For the price it is at now is very reasonable; it is of very good build, and looks expensive. The unit itself though is quite large and takes up a bit of room. It does also need a USB cable but they are a few pounds also on amazon!

This really is a brilliant printer and copier (I haven't used the fax so can't comment on that). The print is crisp and clear, it's quiet and quick.

I like the fact that it has USB ports for cameras etc., and also memory card slots so you can print directly from these.

It has an easily accessable feed tray positioned at the top of the machine (on the lid of the scanner)

The control panel is intelligently positioned on the front of the machine and is easy to use (even without reading the instruction manual first!)

BUT.....

It comes without a connection cable! So after I'd carefully sorted it all out, loaded the software into my PC etc. etc. etc. and excitedly went to connect it up.... I found I couldn't link ... Read More:

I purchased this printer to replace my HP3310 which was of a similar spec, but just wasn't producing good enough photo prints after 3 years of (good) service. I have only ever owned HP printers, so changing to Epson was quite a big deal for me. At around £250, it isn't cheap either considering you can get a wireless enabled printer for less than £100 these days.

Firstly, this printer is aesthetically very pleasing to look at and compact in its nature, with no odd parts sticking out here or there. It has a big touch panel display, which is very intuitive to use. Note however that when viewing your photos and scans on the display, it will only use up the middle portion. Still big though. It has 2 paper trays, one for A4 size paper and the other for 5x7 or lower size photo ... Read More:
