I have just moved over to Virgin Cable broadband from Orange. As such, my 5 1/2 Dell Inspirion 2350 desktop has to be moved over to wireless or else I will have to run a wire half way around the house.
I bought this wireless card on the 5 star recommendation here and elsewhere. It took 4 days to arrive, and I fitted it today. Total fitting time was about 1 hour as I took the time to have a clean-up as well. In reality it is a 20 minute job. Cover off, blanking plate out, carefully slot in the card, and screw it down with the one screw from the blanking plate.
As others have said the airel is a wire of about 1 meter and a stubby black airel on the end of about 3 inches.
Cd- ROM in, and 5 minutes later, my old machine has a perfect ... Read More:

Read the reviews, but thought I might for once be one of the lucky ones...I wasn't, alas.
This device definitely does *not* do what it says on the tin.
Tried "One Touch" configuration -
Powered up next to WiFi Router;"Find" light flashed; pressed button 10 secs as directed: light stopped flashing (sometimes; sometimes it wouldn't stop at all, sometimes it took much longer than 10 secs); took it 5 yards (sorry, metres - showing my age!) away, well within existing WiFi range; plugged in; light started flashing (i.e. it hadn't remembered the settings as promised); checked instructions; tried again...and again.
Conclusion; DNW fault; Does Not Work. I might have been able to get it going given a fews hours with the manual, but Life's ... Read More:

I've had a WRT 54GL for 12 months and it has run flawlessly.

My only complaint is the fiddly setting up of MAC address filtering (that limits access to specific PCs). This requires you find out and type in the 12 character MAC address for each PC. Using the MAC address stuck to the bottom of my machine didn't work - turns out my machine has two MAC addresses.

The solution is to pull up the command prompt window and type "getmac" (without quotes). That will give you several MAC addresses and you can feed all these to the Linksys and it will be happy since one of these will be the one it wants.

Netgear, in my experience a less reliable router, has a better interface for MAC filtering. It shows you the MAC addresses of all the PCs currently ... Read More:

I bought this particular model so that I could not just print wirelessly but also monitor the toner levels on my Samsung CLP-315 colour laser printer. I installed the software on my PC with Windows XP and laptop running Windows 2000. The printer wasn't listed as a compatible but I took a chance and it paid off.

I used the software CD provided and it all went quite smoothly after a restart of the router so that it assigned the IP addresses properly.

Overall I am very happy with this print server, and hopefully will save some money now my PC doesn't need to be on all the time. I have put the print server and printer on a plug-in timer so hope to cut down the standby power usage even further.

After reading some favourable reviews here, I ordered a WG602 & WG111 2.0 USB adaptor to connect (wireless) my desktop PC downstairs to my broadband connection upstairs.

It was easier than I could imagine.

I connected the WG602 to my Netgear DG834 (it connects with cable supplied into one of the 4 ethernet connections) and plugged it in to mains.

I then went downstairs, installed the software from CD on to my desk top, inserted the WG111 into my USB port.......AND THAT WAS IT.

It took me no longer than twenty minutes. I was very happy with that.

I was then surfing the internet immediately.

Cannot recommend this product highly enough.

Looking to extend you're wireless coverage at home? I was running a Netgear wireless DG834PN Rangemax MIMO-G router in a 3 storey victorian house. Coverage was good on the ground floor but pretty weak on the top floor (about 1 bar out of 5 but occasionally zero). Looked into options: bigger antena (aparently pretty useless); run ethernet cable to an access point on the top floor; Netgear Powerline range extender (but was unsure about wiring/circuits at home); and using TWO access points. We went for the last option and now have 4 out of 5 reception on the top floor, into the garden and down the street!

The first access point is connected to the router by a short ethernet cable. Access point 2 is plugged into the mains on the first floor, and connects by wirless to access point ... Read More:

This is our first wireless and we have hooked into an existing Linksys wired router. Thought that was it but there are so many options and not understanding all the jargon makes it not so obvious which to choose. This is why I gave 3 stars - as the hardware works fine but the instructions and setup CD just leave you hanging if it doesn't all work perfectly. So a few tips for dummies like me: 1. Turn off your firewall during setup; 2. If the CD setup cannot find your access point but all lights are working (as well as a light on the wired router), open a browser and enter the IP address - if you don't know what it has been set to - open the admin window of your wired router using the IP address of that - go to Status ->Local Network -> click on DHCP client table. If you don't know/can't ... Read More:

Bought this antenna to use with an Edimax access point. The access point struggled to work on the standard antenna with an iPhone more than about 8-10m away from it. This antenna provides a 100% signal to the iPhone anywhere in the house, including upstairs which is through several walls and a good 20m away. Bargain!
