Really solidly build, with the normal U3 startup / program management system. Personally I like U3, but it's easy to remove if you don't (or prefer an alternative like "Portable Apps"). I did find that on one occasion when I pulled it out after the PC had hung that it had completely corrupted...a nasty state of affairs that required me to buy data recovery software (the software is very expensive, despite being from the manufacturer!!). It could be that this is down to Vista , but at least you would expect free recovery software - it never happened on my 2GB U3 Kingston in over 3 years! I could have just reformatted for free of course - but it was vital data: I should have kept a backup! Still, a good sound product, ... Read More:

This is a great memory stick. When I opened mine I was surprised how small it was and yet it felt quite solid. It's sheathed in clear plastic as a protective cover which can be slid off to reveal the device's very tiny size - is there really 8gb in there?!?!?! Fanatastic! I thought at first glance 'Oh, it would have been nice to have had some kind of LED activity indicator' and went ahead and plugged it into my machine. Lo and behold the keyring loop area of the device lit-up! Nice. The unit flashes red to indicate activity and gently brightens and dims to indicate no data being transfered. Excellent Product- The pre-loaded software is quite useful as it contains a reasonable level of security i.e. Encryption. It has a back-up feature which can come in handy in case it is lost or stolen. The sleek design is quite attractive and the metal casing ensures it does not break during everyday rough use. Mine has had a few knocks and bumps before and is still in perfect condition. The way it slides under its case is impressive as there is no need to have a cap (one less thing to worry about when your out and about-transporting data). (Overall a sound product, in future they could improve security by having a finger-print scanner, on the outer case, to unlock the USB device as this is a very popular feature nowadays.)

I'm useless at looking after things. I have had numerous flash drives and broken them all. This I heard was very strong and can withstand 2000lbs of weight. Quite impressive as a statistic, but it can with stand being dropped quite easily without even looking like it will break. The usb part is retractable, so is even more protected. It is a fantastic device made by sandisk, very reliable, but even more, very well priced :D

So, so, happy. I got this product thinking the speed was going to be a tad on the small side but I was completely wrong. Transfered 1.2 gig in about 4 minutes. I don't understand why everybody has said its so slow, the only reason I can think of is that you all run rubbish PC's???? My MAC loves this product and so do I!!!!

Although this flash drive is very nicely made Mac users should be aware that it is not fully compatible with the Mac OS. The drive launches a U3 system icon, the software of which is designed to allow transportation of applications as well as data, and this is non-functional on Macs. The flash drive storage partition itself works normally but you are faced with a CD-Rom icon on your desktop every time you insert the stick. SanDisk has just made available a U3 system removal tool for OS X 10.5 Leopard. This seems to work fine although you need to download Cruzer utilities from SanDisk. All-in-all this is a very classy drive. Just be aware of the additional steps necessary if you are a Mac user and wish to remove the U3 system.
