No criticism of Amazon. TomTom ? That's another matter. The unit works fine - until you connect to TomTom Home. The updates will render your unit an expensive paperweight. I can't recommend an alternative, but I emplore you to avoid this over-priced piece of junk.

Electronics : SONY MSXM2GS 2GB Memory Stick(R) Pro Duo Memory Card

I ordered one of these SONY MSXM2GS 2GB Memory Stick(R) Pro Duo Memory Cards from Amazon. I didn't select a specific supplier, so Amazon defaulted to DigiplayUK as the supplier. Having bought a counterfeit memory stick in the past I'm very aware of how prevalent fakes are, so when my memory stick arrived I naturally subjected it to as many tests as possible to make sure it was genuine. Unfortunately it failed every test. I urge everyone who has bought what claims to be a genuine Sony brand memory stick to check it for authenticity. There is a guide on eBay which can show you how to do this (do a google search for 'ebay memory stick' and you should find it right away).

This is my first satnav - it was a birthday present and just what I wanted, although I didn't know at the time! It's fantastic, very user friendly, intuitive, fast, with large print, bright colours, clear sound, a blue car which matches mine and the route is marked in PINK! It changes to nighttime colours automatically, recalculates routes quickly and I'm confident I won't get lost in Milton Keynes ever again. It's hard to believe there's anything out there that would suit me better.

I have owned one of these for a year now. I chose this because a friend had a Tom Tom, which was extremely unreliable in certain parts of the country. This unit has come down in price quite a bit, and now represents considerably better value than when I purchased it a year ago.

First the good points. I find it great in big cities, especially London. When navigating myself, I always attempted the simplest routes. The Garmin picks routes which are quicker, but usually more complex, so that I would not have attempted them otherwise. It has saved me a considerable amount of time on these journeys.

It has also negotiated some really good routes, cross country, which have saved me both time and distance, where I would previously have stuck ... Read More:

I haven't come across a perfect Sat Nav yet but the Nuvi 200W gets as close as is feasibly possible for a cheap basic machine. 100% better than the Navman S30 I bought earlier and immediately regretted.

The wide screen and generously sized keypad makes entering addresses a piece of cake. The intuitive software also makes this task very easy once you are familiar with it. This only takes a couple of goes so you are flying in no time.

The mapping and route calculation is top notch and it re-calculates in an instant if you go wrong. The screen is clear and bright and a pleasure to use.

I suppose my only niggles - otherwise it would have been five stars - is the lack of a £3 USB cable supplied in the box (how else are you ... Read More:

I bought the TomTom a week ago and used it immediately for 1000 miles or so to Brittany. Everything worked perfectly 'straight from the box'. If we did take a wrong turning, it was quickly picked up and we were re-routed. The only time it became rather confused was at a new shopping mall in France where there were no roads marked. We were impressed with the routing to hotels, which often involved complicated one-way streets. We were a little surprised that not all of the 'safety' cameras in the variable speed limit section of the M25 near Heathrow, were marked.

Electronics : Integral - "9 in 1" USB 2.0 Memory card reader
Needed a card reader to transfer images to an Sd card for viewing on my Wii.I took a gamble with this one as appossed to the more expensive Belkin product. The reason being that a reviewer stated they had problems with data transfer to larger memory cards, i.e.(1 or 2gigs).
I've experienced no such problems and no overheating worries either.
By the way,its 31p, or was, but the P&P alone is a fiver.

Having been a bit of a sceptic about satnavs - after all, what's so difficult about reading a map(!) - I borrowed this from a friend to navigate around London and am a convert. It just makes driving (even in heavy congestion) so much more bearable when you're not having to squint at road signs to check you've not missed the turn. In fact, it's been an absolute revelation.

Having not tried any of the competition I'm not best placed to give comparisons, but this did all I required it to do very impressively - so much so that Jane became one of the family - albeit one who's a little bit humourless if very forgiving... no tantrums if you do take a wrong turn, she just calmly takes a deep breath, counts to ten, and recalculates. I think I'm in love.
