I have waited eagerly for this iPod. The base model is practically identical apart from a few changes. A speaker allows for quiet sound to be played from the base of the iPod which is ideal for listening on the bus, with some friends but, the bass is very scratchy on loud output, but nice to see the inclusion of it. The unit, now has a curved back which Apple claims "is easier too hold", but I have no opinion on it myself. The addition of a side volume control is good as well. Other addition includes a Nike+ receiver built in for avid runners, and a new software update, with the update of Genius software. This allows you to choose a song, and for the iPod to choose up to 100 songs from your iPod to create play-lists, quickly and easily. The ... Read More:

Having had an Ipod classic which stopped working after just 15 months and then a 'refurbished' version which lasted not quite a year I tried to dissuade my son from purchasing another Ipod. Won over, however, by its style and the new 'touch' gadgets I was over ruled and a 16gb Touch was purchased in September. Yesterday, after less than 2 months, it has given up the ghost - broken - won't even switch on! Why oh why do people buy these things - they are not built to last - please don't be swayed by the looks and gadgets - and if you do buy make sure you take out some sort of breakdown insurance - you are sure to need it!!

I bought my iPod touch last Christmas and fell in love with it immedietly. However... now, after just nine or ten months it has already started to 'play up'. It pauses randomly and sometimes i can see the time slider going through a song but no sound. i took it back to the apple shop, they put the new updates on it (free of charge i'd like to say ;)) but i still have the same problem i.e keeps pausing randomly. i would suggest that you don't buy the iPod touch as i am completely convinced that mine will stop working altogether JUST after my one year gurantee runs out. proof of this: my friend and her sister both bought an iPod on the same day last year and just after their one year gurantee ran out... they both stopped working within hours of each other. many others ... Considering i only paid £150 for mine i cannot complain, and why would i want to? This thing is amazing! I have never been a fan of Apple stuff, still am not, but my opinion of the iPod has changed. For such a small thing i can do so much: Games, Calendar, Mail, Internet, Music, Movies, Apps etc. It truly is great - However, i wouldn't pay £270 for one... They aren't that good. If you can get one cheaper it is a must, if not wait till they are <£200. You won't regret it!

I actually think the ipod touch is a fabulous piece of technology, but, I've judged on the weakest link, vista compliance. All other generations of ipod are compliant so why not the touch? I've tried every possible option but end up with the message that it's a camera and no drivers are available.
