I had my head unit fitted at a Halfords a while back and I was lured into spending £7 on an aux in cable for my ipod classic while I was there. I thought what's the harm it's a simple cable and I don't have to wait for a slightly cheaper one to get delivered from online... However.. that cable was a total let down. After just one day if you bent it in any position, the sound would cut out of one channel. This definitely wasn't my ipod playing up.. So I took it back and they tried replacing it. I wasn't interested.. Checked Amazon and liked the look of this one seeing how it was durable and had a few decent reviews. It turned up today and it's top draw, especially at this price. This Tom Tom is very badly designed. Even though it still has the same easy to use interface (which is still great) it has many other faults: 1) The mop thing that sticks to the windscreen is not good at sticking to anything so the unit keeps falling off. 2) The combined power/data connector is at the bottom of the Tom Tom and that has meant that the connector has come loose after falling onto the dash so many times. Now the power connector is damaged and I am constantly trying to re-adjust the cable to get it to charge. This is not a safe thing to do while driving. 3) The latest thing to happen is that the unit is now switching off and showing a battery warning even when the power is connected. I have ... I was nervous that this would not work because I was aware that when a cassette goes into my stereo it moves downwards behind a small metal plate - I was therefore concerned the cable would be cut or jammed - it wasn't a problem. It does work best with the iPOD volume on full, rather than the stereo volume high up - there is a bit of hissing in between songs, but I guess that was always the case with tapes!! I would recommend this product for those that want to use their iPOD in the car

I got this to play with my Zen stone in the car.... took me a while to figure out how to set it up - probably cos im not the quickest when it comes to technical devices, however now ive mastered it, its straightforward enuf.... Battery life seems good, easy to connect, although i now seem to have a lot of wire and devices floating around the gear stick. Sound quality isnt great. Its ok to have it on in the background, but u wont be able to crank it up as loud as you want without the song quality being compromised. I thought this might also be due to the MP3 player i was using the transmittor with, i've recently upgraded the ZEN stone to a ZEN mosiac, and the sound quality is indeed much better, though again, there is a limit on how high the volume ... I bought a TomTom 720 in March 2008 and totally regret doing so. Soon after purchase the device would occasionally turn itself off for no reason.These episodes got more regular until it eventually only stayed on for a few seconds. I sent the unit back for repair, being told that it usually takes 5-7 working days to turn around. After some very expensive 'hold the line' phone calls to the elusive customer support and a 1 month wait (waiting for parts they said), I received the repaired unit back. They obviously are not competent in the repairs field, as the unit still does not work. To make matters worse, as well as returning my device, they also sent me a repaired device belonging to another customer, which I now have to return. Incompetence again. Read More:

Really simple to use, no complicated wiring or messing around with random bits of plastic, simply plug in and play, sometimes the sound quality isn't brilliant but i think that's all down to the fact it's broadcasted across the radio. If you don't want to get an expensive radio with MP3 connectivity this is a perfect gadget to have, cheap and cheerful and works a treat, even charges your ipod at the same time! Bargain!
