I bought this laptop as a secondary computer as my Fiance and i would always argue over using the "main" computer as its connected to our TV for a monitor. After searching Amazon for a while i came across this one, at first the name put me off but some rapid "googleing" soon put my mind at ease. I ordered it and 2 days later it arrived in perfect condition. Since then we have had 3 months worth of fantastic performance (for a secondary PC). It is on for around 2-3 hours a day and although the battery isn't great the mains really isnt a problem. The screen is bright and adjustable the sound is OK but would suggest headphones are probably better. Overall i am very happy with it and have absolutely no regrets. A good all rounder!!

I bought this laptop a couple of weeks ago because, with two teenage kids and an ebay addicted wife, I cannot get access to the desktop PC easily. I wanted a machine that would be quick and good for watching DVDs and basically doing all the things I used to do on the desktop. I am very happy with my purchase. It looks cheap compared to a Sony Viao or a HP, but it performs just as well as a £700 laptop - to me at least. I would recommend this machine to anyone.

the Acer Aspire 5315 has been a good product up untill now. I have owned this computer from new for just under a year. it is now not allowing me to download programmes from the internet or from cd/dvd. it is only allowing me to save certain things, and it is not the memory space cos there is still lots there. also it has just started not recognising dvds, even the ones which i have previously played through my laptop. if anyone has any ideas i would appreciate them

I recently returned a HP AMD laptop to Dixons, this is far superior in every way. The graphics are amazing in quality, and highly fluid on 3d. Its monsterously fast, and I would recommend to anyone. Buy one.

I've just taken delivery of this new Acer Aspire One (Amazon delivery took 5 days). Out of the box it looks great, it is light, the build quality looks and feels very good and the screen opens smoothly. It came with 80% battery life already which is handy if you don't have electricity to hand immediately. I booted it up and went through a simple 4 step setup process (language, country, time, password) which took about 3 minutes. Then the OS booted. It is very user friendly with big links on the opening screen for Web, Mail, Photos, Video, Preferences, Documents etc. There is no link to "Wireless" or "Networks" which would be handy, but there is an icon in the botton right. I bought this laptop a couple of months ago and its been consistently good from the minute it was switched on. The laptop has great smoothe running technical capabilities (2.5GHZ processor, 2GB Ram, 120GB HDD) and the picture is outstanding, the cristal bright screen making a huge difference on that one. As for sound its decent, but for the price you get some good software thrown in and a high performance no fuss laptop for your hard earned cash! Definately one to consider if you looking for a good laptop for under £400.

Hi I purchased this nice looking number yesterday to replace my Eee PC 4 gig machine, which is in the same bracket as this Acer 150AW (512mb) machine but with the added benefit of having a 120 Gig hard drive, with both also using Linux as an operating system. I must stress it was not purchase from Amazon, but another major high street chain (Cxxxys)and felt complelled to write this report/ review. I agree with the others that it was easy to set-up both the wireless internet connection, and network printers. But it went down hill from there! I loaded a version from the Skype web page, have about 7 different one to choose from which is from what I see is also dependent on the version of Linux , and based on a trial and error eventually load and installed ... Firstly no problems with the delivery or the ordering process, however it's when I got this machine home my problems began. As described in an earlier review when I first switched on the PC would not accept my monitor though the trick with F8 did the trick on startup. Things went ok with printer connection which was seemless - the machine was quiet, Pentium instead of Celeron and reasonably quiet. My problems began with the broadband modem, whose installation disc would not run properly (was fine on my old XP machine) anyway went onto website to get driver data to use on Vista which I installed - despite this the PC refused to acknowledge my modem's existence so thought sod it will get one from PC World that works with Vista - no such luck and neither Tiscali nor Netgear can resolve ... Best value for money if you just want to watch movies/dvds or play games. Very light, small and bright picture. Not recommended for using it to work as a gigantic screen for working on the computer, because the text gets fuzzy when not in native resolution. But why is this keeping getting more expensive? The first time I saw it on here it was £235, bought it for £245 and now it's £275???
