Electronics : Aigo F529 - 1GB MP3 player & Omnisphere Speaker system

When I opened the substantial packaging I burst out laughing, it looks like a miniature UFO! I plugged it in, connected my MP3 player and turned it on to discover the sound was quite good, but only on hard surfaces, the speaker faces down and the sound reflects from the surface it stands upon. It isn't flimsy, it's heavy enough, feels robust and is plenty loud enough for listening in a bedroom, it's obviously not going to be your main system but it's ok for smaller rooms. One thing to note, it is obviously MONOPHONIC, it has only one (1) speaker, but it sounds good enough for casual listening, as you would listen to the radio for instance. The bonus of 1gb of internal playable memory is a great idea, although I haven't tried it yet, but if ... Read More:

Considerably cheaper than any of its rivals but it lacks some basic features that would have made it far better. Its quite bulky and the buttons are a bit plasticky and fiddly to use. Trying to skip tracks, for example, seems to either start fast forwarding the one you are currently listening to or jump you on several further than you wanted to go. The biggest problem I have, though, is the way it orders the playlist. There is no user playlist facility so your stuck with its alpha numeric sorting. Along with the fact it doesn't support folders, this leads to the user having to manufacture a very specific naming convention if you want your tracks in the right order. Most players of this type sort by time uploaded which is fine when using the ... Read More:

Bought these to amplify the sound from our Archos TV while on hols. Was dubious about sound and battery life but thought worth giving a try for the money. The sound is much better than expected and the AAA batteries last ages. We've used the little speakers every day on a two week holiday and the batteries were still going strong when we got back, as we use rechargeable batteries in everything we own it's very cost effective.

The folding hinge mechanism of the two tiny speakers means you can position how the sound comes out. Also the standard earphone connection and wire coil away neatly in the back of the unit behind a slide-out lid and you are also provided with an extension wire. They even work well with our mp3 players. Folded the unit ... Read More:

Very nice bit of kit, my son has the 1Gb version. When I wanted a compact MP3 player, I turned to this item. Sorry, but not paying £32 for it. Found another 2Gb Chinese no-name item for £13 here; pity.

Very poor value indeed.
