This is perfect for my 16" Sony Vaio. Quality metal stand is just at the right angle for typing and the fans are really silent. Excellent value for money - couldn't be happier with it!

Well i got the product this morning and wow i am impressed! its so easy to use it doesn't have instructions and it doesn't need them, "just plug in the play". the fan is practically silent (i didn't think i was working till i put my hand over the fans) and doesn't just move air (which near a warm laptop is likely to be warm!) it blows cold air at your laptop, all on the power of usb port. Also the top is metal (despite it being light but i wouldn't carry it to uni) so the heat is dissipated without always needing the fan. finally i use my laptop of my bed a lot and i was worried that this product wouldn't work in that situation but it does as its actually a wedge so im not shutting off any vents or anything and its really stable. conclusion ... I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I ordered the Akasa but for the money I think it's brilliant. Fully retail boxed, very well made, a leather/pvc case to put it in plus all the connection and power leads required. I found it incredibly easy to set up - I was able to install my old laptop HDD in about 3 minutes and vista recognised it instantly as an external drive. The case is light, looks great in blue, very compact and the connection runs v.fast (USB 2.0) The only downside, and I expect this applies to all IDE HDD enclosures is that you need lots of USB ports!! This Akasa requires at least 3! Two for power and one for the connection...

This item came with my laptop very long ago. The body of it is very well designed for the bottom of the laptop, however the fans are quiet which is mostly good, but the speed to breeze the laptop however is low. Very ineffective to doing its job. Hopefully in future the company will go back to the drawing board, and sort the low speed out. I do like the design of it, just not what the power comes with.

I've spent many hours researching all the available laptop coolers, and I did have reservations about buying this particular one based on the location of the fans, and whether it would be adequate to cool down my laptop. I narrowed it down to this one and one other, and largely picked this one as it seemed that this one was higher spec. My laptop is an HP Pavilion DV2130ea. It heats up rapidly, and overheats to alarming temperatures in a short space of time; it shuts itself down frequently, and I have to turn it off at regular intervals just to let it cool down before I can turn it back on and resume working.
