This is a fantastic mp3 player; easy to use and very good quality audio (when used with a good pair of earphones or headphones). There are plenty of critics on here, complaining about audio quality, but at the end of the day, mp3 quality is never going to be as good as on a CD (whichever model or make you go for), and if you are particularly picky you can go on to say the same about CDs and Vinyl LPs. An MP3 player is there for convenience, and the ipod nano is extremely convenient without much degradation of quality at all.

I had my iPod for my birthday (16/3) this year and I absolutely love it! I have had many listening enjoyments out of this and I adore it, it is my most prized possession!
Beware, sometimes the cover flow will turn into lines and songs won't play but all you need to do is go on iTunes, restore it to factory settings then put all your music back on.

The first thing I did after I finally got a home computer two years ago, was to read up on all the ipods available. It didn't take me long to decide on the iPod Classic from Apple and then the wait began for it's release in Australia.
Unlike others on here, I can't compare the Classic 80gb with any other ipod as this is my first, but I can say that three and a half thousand songs later (and still climbing) I can thoroughly recommend it anyone.
Many albums from my own collection have been included, plus many purchased direct from iTunes, as their sound is better than the older CD'sand you get an album cover displayed on the ipod screen.
You can of course buy songs individually if you have a mind to, although I am an album kinda girl, myself. ... Read More:

I bought this to replace my Creative Zen Jukebox, a chunkier but more robust mp3 player, so that's what I'm comparing it to.

In summary:

Pros:
- very small and light
- nice bright display and a good size
- cover flow (the ability to scroll through you albums by cover) is a nice touch
- the circular touch control is great for navigating very quickly through large lists
- Battery life is more than sufficient, allowing for more than 20 albums on a single charge (will be much less if you watch videos though)
- volume is sufficiently loud without being deafening

Cons:
- if your thumb is larger than a child's the controls can be awkward - when pressing the central button you'll often inadvertently ... Read More:

The ipod nano 3rd generation is a real disappointment. I think most of the reviews written so far have been from people who have only had their ipod for a few days. If you haven't encountered any problems yet I'm sure you will soon because all together I've had 3 ipod nanos and they have all played up and I don't think its a coincedence. At first it works fine as I'm sure everyone will agree but it gets scratched easily, freezes whenever it feels like it and on my current ipod which I have only had for about 2 months the buttons have stopped working and the ipod won't respond. The earphones work fine but apparently break easily as 2 of my friends have told me therefore I think there are more reasons NOT to buy an ipod nano than to buy one. I don't like giving negative reviews ... Read More:

Let me start by saying that the iPod Touch was as good as I'd hoped it would be. And I had high hopes!

My initial concerns were that the touch screen wouldn't be particularly sensitive, the navigation would be cumbersome, the quality of video playback would be poor, importing files would be difficult and the battery life would be limited. I told you I had high hopes! However after having the 32GB version for over a month now, I can confirm that my concerns have been well and truly allayed.

The touch screen is as good as you'll find on the market. It's sensitive to touch without being over the top and what has probably pleased me most, is that even when you're clicking on small links in the web browser, its accuracy is outstanding. Wirelessly surfing the internet ... Read More:

I bought this for my daughter (11) as she was keen on it. Despite the 'glamour' of iTunes and Apple itself (and being PC literate), we find navigating transfers (music and movies) really quite frustrating, with required 'ejections' etc and songs not synching properly in an intuitive sense. It is surprisingly much less intuitive than I expected (-iRiver's Drag and Drop is SO much simpler and effective). After several days, we still find video transfers erratic and had to do manual transferring to get it onto the iPod (then we lost what was already synced, though warned somewhere). Moreover, I got Apple's "white screen of death" at the very beginning and had to reset the iPod to solve the defect (losing our first data). There is a measly manual with the packaging so you have to get onto the web ... Read More:

I spent a long time resisting the lure of the iPod, thinking that those who worshipped them were confusing the container with its contents. I could see the point of being able to carry around all your music, but - having a fairly large collection - was all too aware of the limitations of the earlier models (and indeed of the early MP3 players). In addition, they just seemed too darned expensive for what they did. Of course, advances in technology and fashion increased the capacity and decreased the price, with the result that this, the larger of the two 6th generation models, currently represents the best value for money as regards space. What's more, it looks as if this won't change very much in the future: with the advent of the iPhone and its touch interface, it's unlikely that the so-called classic ... Read More:
