I bought this for my wife for Christmas. It was easy to use and transfer files and music to. The size was nice and small but with a clear screen which was one of the things that attracted me to it. Within a month though it stopped responding. Whenever it was turned on the drive just span and clicked for a while then eventually turned itself off. I tried all sorts to fix it but nothing worked. As it had only been used maybe a dozen times we were not very happy. Thanks to Amazons great returns service I sent it back and got a quick refund. Very disappointed after such a promising start. Would not buy another hard drive based product from Archos.

I am slightly disappointed with my new toy, I'll try and explain. I'm a gadget freak! I buy things that I don't really need from time to time (I'm not the only one, right?).... but when I do fork out the best part of week's wage (after the plugins, docking stations etc) I get a little peeved when it doesn't live up to my expectations. What's the problem? well, the main thing that bugs the hell out of me is Archos have upped the screen resolution on the 605 (great?!) and indeed it is a mighty nice resolution however they have somehow sacrificed colour saturation in the process. The 605 has a pretty 'washed out' look when viewing video content and there's no option to raise saturation levels either - everything I have ... Read More:

I also took this camera skiing, and again it stopped working after a few days. It had worked on a previous trip but i guess that -15C was a little too extreme for it. Once again, great camera, i will be getting another but be careful when using it in the cold.

I have set up my own wi-fi, i have built my own computer, but this is impossible to get set up. We have tried for three days and cannot even get the tv channels never mind the E.P.G. It looks and feels like a lovely piece of kit, and I do want to keep it...BUT I CAN'T GET IT TO WORK! So sadly it will have to go back. Maybe get one later when they become plug and play.

Having keenly arranged to receive a 604 for my birthday I decided to chip in the extra 50 quid and uprgrade to the WIFi, which I must add is only necessary if you need wireless internet otherwise it isnt really necessary. The kit is brilliant, the screen gorgeous, but I will struggle to ever again purchase an Archos product due to the ridiculous amount of software, extras and plug-ins I have had to buy: 1. Screen protector £5 2. MP4 converter for Mac £16 3. AVI- M-PEG4 plug-in another £13 4. The DVR dock which I got a good deal on £50 5.
