On the outside this product seemed perfect for me: plently of memory, nice display screen and plenty of useful little functions as well as good reviews... ...and yes, it was good for a while. The initial reason for purchasing this was so I had all my music/photos, etc. in one easily accessible place... ...HOWEVER, I have had no end of annoying niggles with this product. In less than a month the menu button had broken and would continuously get stuck which meant I couldn't access what I needed on the player. The select button also broke which made selecting items that much harder. Belt loop is too small except for narrow belts. Loop is badly placed so case sticks up above belt and into your side. Open sided. No way of carrying earbuds too. Pretty much a waste of time.

I've had my Archos TV+ 250gb for a few months now and the unit has seen daily use. I bought it as a media player/hard disc recorder so that I could record straight from my Freeview box and play mp3's without hooking up my laptop to the hifi. There are a few problems with the Archos TV+ 1) Almost everything needs a subscription: TV guide, internet, ability to play DVD's on your computer through the wifi/network, all the games, etc... 2) The Archos is supposed to be able to change channels on your freeview box - It can't do this with my Virgin Freeview box, or my sisters Philips Digi-box. I am slightly disappointed with my new toy, I'll try and explain. I'm a gadget freak! I buy things that I don't really need from time to time (I'm not the only one, right?).... but when I do fork out the best part of week's wage (after the plugins, docking stations etc) I get a little peeved when it doesn't live up to my expectations. What's the problem? well, the main thing that bugs the hell out of me is Archos have upped the screen resolution on the 605 (great?!) and indeed it is a mighty nice resolution however they have somehow sacrificed colour saturation in the process. Like another reviewer I purchased this item from Avides. Delivery was pretty quick, unfortunately not all the accessories were included. No USB lead, no USB host lead and no anttena cable/carrying case. Emailed Avides and they apologised and said they would send missing items. They did, but over some period of time. Actually they were friendly to deal with and an honest mistake I can accept. Potentially an awsome piece of kit, however mine does not record directly from a TV or Sat box like it is supposed to do. Recording direct from DVD player is not a problem. Digital Freeview aspect is fine and I have had it working in trains and cars, on the move. Plenty of scope for keeping your music, photos too. The first thing to say which I have not seen mentioned anywhere is that you can play the video back through the TV with a simple lead. I used the one that was included in my Gmini pack and it is almost (but not 100%) DVD quality. Second, it is very easy to burn your DVDs (only for your own use of course) and convert them into AVI files. Then the quality is wonderful. the sound is excellent.
